Preview — The Gilded Age Season 1 Episode 9: Let the Tournament Begin
The final episode of The Gilded Age‘s inaugural season is upon us!
On The Gilded Age Season 1 Episode 9, “Let the Tournament Begin,” the drama continues between love interests Marian and Tom Raikes, the new and old money of Manhattan’s elite clash at a ball, and the servants look to keep their secrets and scandals at bay.
What will happen when Marian elopes with Tom? Will her aunts succeed in stopping her? The series started with their developing love story in Tom’s law office but has lacked much spark. However, the episode’s promos promise plenty of drama.
Maybe someone else will get involved? I have a suspicion that Larry Russell might also be interested in Marian.
It looks like Gladys will finally get her much-anticipated debutante ball. Hopefully, she will get her moment, not controlled or over-shadowed by her mother. We will have to wait and see who shows up to the grand ball.
Mrs. Russell’s insistence on the girls’ dresses might foreshadow Mrs. Russell’s spotlight, but at least she’ll finally get to show off her extravagantly elaborate ballroom.
Judging by the pre-released photos, Peggy’s back after she resigned from her job working for Agnes van Rhijn. Does she return to the Van Rhijn household, or does she find another job? My guess is that she helps Marian talk through the elopement.
On The Gilded Age Season 1 Episode 8, “Tucked Up in Newport,” several servants seemed to be keeping secrets, including Monsieur Baudin, Turner, Armstrong, and Watson. We know little about any of their backstories.
The season finale hopefully exposes what they are hiding. The Gilded Age is a Julian Fellowes show, so drama downstairs is enviable!
