Yellowjackets: Top Moments from “Blood Hive” (Season 1 Episode 5)
The paranormal encounters become more frequent on Yellowjackets Season 1 Episode 5, “Blood Hive.”
The yellowjackets must deal with conflicting attitudes and a potential new threat on “Blood Hive” as Jackie suggests a séance, and things don’t go as planned. Ben catches onto Misty’s game, making a play in hopes of keeping himself safe.
Meanwhile, Callie and Shauna have a little head-to-head when the truth about Adam comes out.
Here are my top moments from Yellowjackets Season 1 Episode 5, “Blood Hive.”

The Séance
Not to say the yellowjackets have had it easy, especially with dealing with the death of their teammates and Coach Martinez. But, up until now, the most the group has had to worry about is surviving and scavenging for food; nothing supernatural.
However, after “Blood Hive,” it’s clear as day that the storyline is about to up the ante with its supernatural occurrences. Jackie’s suggestion to do a séance is in good spirit, but after finding the carvings in the attic, you would think one would put two and two together and not go forward with said idea.
Lottie hasn’t had access to her medication in a good minute, and while what she has is not confirmed, it’s likely to be schizophrenia. But, that doesn’t explain the occurrences in the attic and Lottie’s ability to see whatever flew into her from outside.
My initial thoughts are that Shauna is the Antler Queen; however, now I speculate that it’ll be Lottie.
Lottie’s possession scares the rest of the group, so it would make sense for her to be the leader potentially. Her ability to pick up on the supernatural auras in the woods will be something for the girls to look forward to and put their hopes in.

It’s not confirmed, but the two groups will probably split into non-believers and believers. A few were unphased, but most were terrified of what happened in the attic. Jackie, Travis, and possibly Taissa would be in the non-believers’ group. But, after the demonstration in the attic, there’s no telling who else would join.
Courtney Eaton is DELIVERING as Lottie this season, and there’s only been a taste of what’s to come. I smell an award-winning performance coming soon.
Ben Confronts Misty
It’s no surprise that Misty is beginning to take her obsession with Ben to the next level. She’s the only one who looks after him properly, in her mind, which makes him hers, which means that naturally, when he rejects her, she’s going to take it to heart.
If she can’t be the one to love him, then nobody else will. In her eyes, if he’s not going to reciprocate the feelings she has, then he’s dead weight.
While Ben might be out of his element, he’s still quick to catch onto Misty’s game. And let me say, Steven Krueger outdoes himself and delivers exceptionally well in his confrontation scene with Misty. The acting from him this week is on point.
A stomach-turning, gut-wrenching feeling occurs during his speech because it’s so believable until the end. His face twitch gives away the façade, to me, allowing a breath of relief.
Possession, cults, and cannibalism are enough; pedophilia does not need to be added into the mix.
Callie Figures Out The Truth
The potential for the Adam situation to blow up becomes way more prevalent now that Callie knows the truth about her mother’s infidelity. While Shauna does make herself known as number one and puts Callie in her place, I’m confident that’s not where it ends.
From what viewers have seen, Callie hasn’t had much screen time, but she’s not the type to sit down and listen without a fight. She may not go to her father about the affair, but there’s no way she doesn’t investigate who Adam is. If there’s something fishy about Adam, she could be the one to figure it out.

The scenes between Shauna and Callie also give insight into Jackie’s fate. Shauna explains to Callie that the uniform she’s wearing was, in fact, Jackie’s and not her mother’s. On Jackie’s fortieth birthday, Shauna was given the uniform, which should mean that Jackie is dead, but it might not be that cut and dry.
Shauna, Natalie, Taissa, and Misty are adamant about something not getting out to the public because they would be absolute toast. Well, seeing as how they were left to die for nineteen months in the wilderness, I’m not sure that people finding out they had to eat one another would ruin them. Would it be embarrassing? Extremely. But it feels like there’s more to it.
One theory I keep entertaining is that the girls intentionally left members behind in the wilderness, which would more than likely cause an uproar. People may even call for them to serve jail time. And if this theory is correct, it could also explain why someone would be sending them postcards and taunting them.
Other Thoughts:
- I’m waiting for explanations on Mr. No Eyes and why Taissa continues to see him.
- If Jackie doesn’t begin to hold her own, she may find herself on the outside with nothing.
