Dynasty Review: Everything But Facing Reality (Season 4 Episode 12)
Cristal comes to terms that she has to face reality, and Liam returns to the manor unannounced on Dynasty Season 4 Episode 12, “Everything But Facing Reality.”
The introduction to Liam’s exciting new storyline is enticing at first, but in typical Dynasty fashion, it’s not receiving the attention that it deserves. Screen time, at this point, is somewhat an issue going all around due to the number of “main” characters on the show. It’s hard to give adequate time to everyone when ten different storylines are trying to play out at once.
It’s thrilling to dive deeper into Liam’s new adventure, but it would be even better if his significant other supported him. From day one, Liam has been dealing with the shenanigans that is Fallon Carrington, doing whatever she needed from him because he loves her. Now, after one undercover mission, Liam is being ridiculed and looked down upon for his investment in his father’s murder instead of being talked to about his actions.

Liam is acting out of character, but this introduction is the perfect way to spotlight the red flags in his and Fallon’s relationship. Liam, for the most part, supports Fallon in every decision of hers, including the insane ones, so for him to not get support in return is hurtful to him. His father and his name mean something to him, making the situation more personal than Fallon’s company.
Fallon acts as if one undercover mission with him is enough to make up for the countless situations Liam has been put in over the years. He defines a ride or die, but Fallon isn’t living up to her end of the bargain. Instead, she simply calls him out and expects him to drop his investigation after one failed attempt as if that’s ever stopped her from continuing.
Fallon has a right to be upset with Liam and how he is going about the situation, but calling him crazy after one failed attempt is not the move. While Fallon may have never gotten Liam mixed up with anything majorly life threatening, that doesn’t mean that he hasn’t been by her side. It’s an incredibly stressful situation for both parties, and neither are thinking about the others feelings because they’re wrapped up in themselves.
It’ll be interesting to see where Liam’s storyline goes after his face-to-face meeting with Bill North and his kidnapping immediately afterward. One piece of good news is Liam is confirmed to not be the death on Season 4 Episode 13, “Go Rescue Someone Else,” thanks to IMDB and updated plot descriptions detailing his survival.

At this point, the death isn’t going to be anyone who’s currently a regular on the show, I feel. Daniella Alonso (Cristal), Maddison Brown (Kirby), and Adam Huber (Liam) are all confirmed to be returning after Season 4 Episode 13.
My suspicions of Steven being in the coffin are becoming stronger and stronger as more is revealed. It would be abysmal for the show to kill Steven off in this manner, but since he hasn’t returned since Season 2, it would make sense to tie up that loose end finally.
However, wrapping that storyline up includes the revelation of the part that Adam plays in Steven being put away in the first place. If Steven is given a funeral with no justice for his character whatsoever, it’ll be heartbreaking. Adam, whether he be a changed man or not, still deserves to pay for what he did to Steven.

Cristal is the star of “Everything But Facing Reality,” as Blake figures out the truth, thanks to Adam, forcing her to open up about the situation. Cristal has had her fair share of drama throughout her season and a half on the show, but overall I think she’s the most relatable, down-to-earth character on the show at the moment.
While Blake and Cristal’s relationship has been strained due to both of their behaviors, it’s refreshing to see her receiving support from Blake in the end. Hopefully, Cristal’s cancer storyline isn’t the only thing we can look forward to from her character, considering we’re only halfway through with the season.
It’s a smart move ending the episode on a small cliffhanger to keep the audience guessing. Knowing that it won’t be Liam or Cristal, curiosity has set in on who’s in the casket. But, there’s also still a small chance that the funeral is a ploy altogether.
Other Thoughts:
- Dominque and Alexis’s feud is boring and so childish. After their heart-to-heart in the mine, there’s a certain expectation for them to be less hostile towards one another, but it doesn’t stick. It’s refreshing to see Dominque turn down a high dollar offer in order to follow in the steps of her mother.
- Weirdly, Kirby is thrown out of the manor on Season 4 Episode 11 but then doesn’t make one appearance in this episode.
- Sam and Culhane’s new adventure with the club hasn’t been the most thrilling, so maybe the contractor holding them hostage to the job will change things up.

I’m going to have to disagree with your review on Fallon and Liam. Fallon doesn’t want Liam to continue this investigation because it’s dangerous and life-threatening. Fallon’s schemes have never put herself in actual danger. Think about it. Her husband hasn’t been home for 2-3 weeks, then shows up unexpectedly, only to continue his investigation. I get that his investigation is important to him but so is his marriage. I have to ask though, do you have a vendetta against Fallon or something? It seems like your never pleased with what she does. In my opinion, you shouldn’t be a critic if your biased
