Supergirl’s Kara Danvers has many things in common with her cousin Clark Kent. They are both reporters, adopted, and superheroes.
Their long list of superpowers is the same — not to mention their creed — but if you put the two under a microscope, they are easily seen as two different people.
Kara’s more sensitive nature lends her strength and empathy when up against the newest alien in town. Her trusted friendships give her so much faith in humanity that she was named the Paragon of Hope during Crisis on Infinite Earths.
And her gentle essence brings a warmth less foreboding than Clark’s imposing fortitude.
Some people may see these attributes as weakness, but that just goes to show that they don’t know the Girl of Steel as we do — a hero in her own right.
Her caped adventures never cease to aspire us to reach out to strangers who are struggling and fighting to find their place in the world. As an active ambassador, Kara shows us what it is like to use personal experiences to comfort the lost and hurting.
Of course, we also get large doses of laughter, fisticuffs, and group hugs with all these learned lessons. After all, that is just another week’s worth of work for the Superfriends.
Yes, the Superfriends — Brainy, Dreamer, Alex, and J’onn — all valuable assets to Kara’s mission to keep Metropolis safe from harm.
Oh wait, did I say Metropolis? Sorry, I meant to say Star City. No, I mean, shoot, where is it again?
