Dynasty Review: The Birthday Party (Season 4 Episode 7)

Dynasty, Reviews

Liam has a hard time with Fallon working so much, so she decides to fly in one of his friends to entertain him. Meanwhile, Alexis and Kirby fight for Adam’s love on Dynasty Season 4 Episode 7, “The Birthday Party.”

I have to start this review by proclaiming my love for whoever keeps pitching singing scenes for Fallon because Elizabeth Gillies’ voice is heavenly. She could easily be one of the top musicians around if she wanted to do so. It’s a shame she hasn’t given the girls an album yet with the high demands. I’d even be alright with a covers album or a weekly YouTube video where she covers something new. Anyway.

Fallon and Liam are only two months into their relationship, and already she’s trying to pawn him off on someone else; sadly, I’m not shocked. It makes sense that as the new head of the dynasty, Fallon would begin to fall in the same patterns as her father, especially with him in her ear telling her to shoo Liam away.

You can never expect how someone will act when it comes to money, and if Fallon should have learned anything by now, it’s that lesson. Nash saw his opportunity and took it, but what he doesn’t expect is for Fallon to tell Liam about it.

I love that even though Fallon may tend to fall prey to Blake’s ways on occasion, she’s still more substantial than that and tends to make the right decision in the end. And, doing it in grand fashion, I might add. Fallon is mischievous at heart so setting Nash up to confess in front of Liam is pure gold.

Fallon punching Nash is arguably the best moment of the episode because he thought that he could sit there and disrespect her to her face. After being caught for being a rat. He deserved the punch, and it’s a good way for Fallon to let off some steam after all the business she’s been doing.

As always, I do not care for the Adam parade and have zero cares for it being his birthday or that he’s trying to get a new job. I do, however, get much delight from Kirby pulling one over on Alexis. Kirby is wicked and quick on her feet, so she’s not one to play war with. Alexis thought it would be easy to catch Kirby slipping and instead got tricked into ruining her party.

While I don’t appreciate Anders helping Adam and Kirby’s relationship prosper, it is nice to see Alexis get called out in the moment. All she cares about is Adam liking her, but that may very well be over since she outs herself as trying to break his relationship up right in front of him.

It’s a beautiful thing to see Culhane have feelings for someone, but it feels like something happening with Mia isn’t a good decision for him. While he doesn’t know it, it still doesn’t change the fact that she’s been involved with Jeff, and that would inadvertently cause drama to ensue between the two. Jeff can be messy and isn’t afraid to ruin a friendship if it gets personal, so here’s hoping that doesn’t happen.

However, I need Mia to stick around because after watching P-Valley, I have fallen in love with Shannon Thornton, and it’s interesting to watch her in this genre. She really is multifaceted.

One storyline I don’t care about is this horrendous diamond mine story. I wish it would end, and something new would come up with Dominque and Alexis. I can’t handle the back and forth on who Dominque is working with, and in general, it’s not a fun or exciting storyline at this point. A curveball needs to be thrown to shake things up.

At the beginning of the episode, we see the flash forward to Fallon at someone’s funeral, and the question of the season is going to be, “who is it?” What would be fun is as the season progresses, we continue to see the scene more and more, but other characters join her, ruling out who could be the possible death.
