Dynasty Review: That Unfortunate Dinner (Season 4 Episode 1)
Fallon and Liam’s wedding rehearsal doesn’t go quite as planned on Dynasty Season 4 Episode 1, “That Unfortunate Dinner,” when uninvited guests show up. Meanwhile, Anders is making progress investigating Adam’s ugly past, Sam potentially has a new stalker, and an eery time-jump teases the death of someone close to Fallon.
The Season 4 premiere of Dynasty is nothing less than what I expected: an hour-long episode of drama, glass breaking, face slapping, fashion to die for, and full crazy.
Between Sam’s stripper turned husband following him to Atlanta and Adam admitting he killed his mother to Kirby, my expectations for the season are already being met on the first episode.

Anders finding someone willing to speak about Adam is a blessing because it’s about time that he paid for his crimes for all of the people whose lives he’s ruined.
Between killing his mother, poisoning Jeff, knocking Liam unconscious, throwing Alexis in a fireplace, and having Steven admitted to a psychiatric hospital, he’s got enough karma coming back to him to last a lifetime.
The Carrington’s have manipulated Kirby her entire life, so the hatred towards them and not trusting anyone in the household with their opinion entirely is a valid reason to not listen about Adam.
People are allowed to make their own mistakes and not listen to their loved ones around them so they can make judgments for themselves, but her staying with Adam after he confesses his crimes to her is senseless and irresponsible. Granted, we’re talking about the same woman who was tricked into a Ponzi scheme for her money and was almost taken out of the country, but still.
I would feel bad for Kirby, but her accepting murder as Adam’s “flaws” is absurd. Once Anders returns and reveals what he found to Kirby, I hope that she’ll be able to see the monster he is, but I doubt she will.

It’s clear that Adam is losing it inside and can’t handle the thought of Anders knowing everything he’s done, which is why he outs himself to Kirby. I have a terrible feeling that he’s about to have another serial killer moment, and Kirby could be hurt in the process because she won’t listen to the people around her.
Ryan has been in the picture for a total of two seconds, and he’s already lying about canceled flights, stalking Sam, and trying to cozy his way into his arms. It’s clear that not everything is alright with him, and Sam should keep a close eye on him while he’s in town. There could potentially be another Adam in the midst.
It wouldn’t be a family event with some sort of glass being shattered; I just didn’t think that it would be Fallon leaving her own rehearsal dinner. The life of a Carrington is never dull, and I LIVE for the drama, but I hope that nothing significant happens at Fallon’s wedding.

Fallon has been working hard to be a better person; she even told Liam to re-invite his mother to the wedding, and her feelings towards Laura are well known, so she deserves an effortless wedding.
One of the main things I’m excited about this season is the killer fashion game. The wardrobe department for Dynasty never misses and always keeps me happy. “That Unfortunate Dinner” is a beautiful premiere and webs the multitude of storylines together quite nicely.
Other Thoughts:
- Evan showing up at the split second before the episode ends is not a good sign for Fallon and Liam’s wedding, but one can hope that things go smoothly.
- Buying a self-driving car is classic Fallon and one of my favorite small moments of the episode.
- I hope that in the event Adam tries to get Kirby to help hurt her father, she’ll finally come to her senses about him.
- I’m hoping to see another musical episode this season so we get to hear Elizabeth Gillies’ lovely voice again.
