This Is Us Season 5 Episode 12, “Both Things Can Be True,” has a full house of Pearson relatives at its disposal and the series is looking to capitalize on these new family dynamics any way it can.
In the past, Jack is going to follow through on his plan to propose to Rebecca but he may need help from Miguel to set the mood. What better way to test a friendship’s potential than with the biggest of Pearson grand gestures?
Kevin and Madison continue to grapple with their decision to stay together and raise the twins. Something tells me having a reclusive uncle stay with you isn’t going to help the tension.
Thankfully Kevin has Randall to lean on again as the two meet up for a brotherly heart-to-heart. Randall will also be on the lookout for a new support system that isn’t his extended family.
Unfortunately for Kate, it looks like she has a lot more on her plate. She makes good on her promise to go back to work and put her degree to good use. But starting a new job in the middle of a pandemic is no walk in the park and it will test Kate in ways a newborn child could never.
The main storyline of this episode will focus on Beth and Tess as they learn to navigate these difficult teen years together. Unfortunately for Beth, she’s living with a hormonal tyrant who can and will assume one wrong look from her mother means the end of the world.
Throw in a visit from Alex, misused pronouns, conversations about sexuality and This Is Us has a recipe for disaster Beth Pearson may not be able to power through on her own.
The Pearson households are nothing if not entertaining right now, and we could use some entertainment!
