Preview — Mare of Easttown Season 1 Episode 1: Miss Lady Hawk Herself
Mare of Easttown — the new limited series from HBO — premieres Sunday with Mare of Easttown Season 1 Episode 1, “Miss Lady Hawk Herself.”
The titular Mare of Mare of Easttown is a former high school basketball star working as a detective in the small town where she grew up.
The seven-episode series follows Mare — played by Kate Winslet — as she investigates a tragic local murder. In addition to the investigation, Mare is also dealing with a personal life that is a mess and the ghosts of past glory that her close-knit town still eagerly celebrates years later.
Mare’s already complicated personal life becomes even more complicated as the case she’s working on starts to connect to her family and friends, which include a newly engaged ex-husband, an addict daughter, and the young grandson that she is raising.
Joining Winslet for the series is Jean Smart, Evan Peters, and Guy Pierce. Whatever else the series ends up being it’s a safe bet that it will be a showcase for the talents of its all-star cast.
