Snowpiercer Review: Our Answer for Everything (Season 2 Episode 7)
Snowpiercer encounters a few bumps as it continues to roll down the tracks (I get it, you’re tired of the train puns). Let’s just say, things are not smooth sailing for the two adjoined trains right now.
On Snowpiercer Season 2 Episode 7, “Our Answer for Everything,” several citizens of Snowpiercer reckon with violent acts they’ve committed or been party to in the past, as Wilford’s takeover efforts are in full swing.
“Our Answer for Everything” contains several compelling arcs. Till and Ruth both have introspective arcs about the atrocities committed on the train, both past and present. Mickey Sumner and Alison Wright are quietly and consistently doing fantastic work on the show
Alison Wright’s Ruth embarks on an especially compelling journey on “Our Answer for Everything,” which is triggered by a child from the tail being afraid of her. Ruth represents long-time Wilford loyalists (or admirers) who are now reckoning with atrocities committed in his name, which of course would only continue should he return to the train.

Sam Roche is another example of Wilford’s peeps who aren’t sure they want to return to the ways of old.
Then there’s Till, whose obsession with finding the perpetrator of the violent acts causes her to miss someone right under her nose. I knew that preacher was up to no good.
Ultimately, “Our Answer for Everything” centers on the train’s unrest reaching a boiling point. As a result of that, citizens of Snowpiercer display overwhelming support for Wilford’s return.
This doesn’t track (pun intended) for two reasons. First, as good as Snowpiercer has been about building tension, this airs directly after an episode that doesn’t include most of the cast. If the tension has reached a boiling point, it should have done so either sooner, or after “Our Answer for Everything.”

Second, there are three episodes left. Snowpiercer spent most of the season building to the political shift but executes it with zero fanfare. It deflates what they’ve been building toward.
Reaching the display of support for Wilford at the end of “Our Answer for Everything” feels like a major misstep in terms of pacing. However, Snowpiercer‘s first season ended with its best three episodes — so perhaps there’s some hope?
The most obvious answer is that “We Support Wilford” may not turn out to be the citizens’ final position. I’m betting on some twists and turns ahead. But for now, the “boiling point” isn’t at a believable level.

A few stray thoughts:
- Wilford’s extreme stance on loyalty has to be a reference to Donald Trump, right?
- Pike looks weird with his head and face shaved.
- Mike O’Malley is great on this show, but I had to look up his character’s name because in my head he’s still “The dad from Yes, Dear“
- Audrey has to be in on this plan, right? Surely she isn’t actually switching sides.
- Layton seems savvy enough to assume the people would pick Wilford. I’m guessing he planned for this.
- Kevin is still alive?!? Does anyone on this show actually die? Are Melanie’s parents next?
- Speaking of Melanie, the timeline is unclear. Did they already miss her and they’re turning back for her? It seems to be linear but it isn’t clearly expressed.
