9-1-1: Lone Star Review: Displaced (Season 2 Episode 7)
9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 Episode 7, “Displaced,” proves that family can get complicated, but they are always a necessity. After all, we all just want to feel like we belong.
T.K. has made the move over to the paramedics, but Nancy isn’t making it easy for him. He tries and tries to do things that he hopes will change her attitude and instead, it makes things worse.
This is when Carlos gets his moment to shine. It is a shame we don’t get to see more of Carlos because if the 126 are the chaos then he is the calm.

Carlos imparts on T.K. the wisdom that maybe Nancy is feeling like she’s not a part of the team, even though they all claim to be “family.” Watching T.K.’s face go on the journey from dismissal to acceptance to let’s take action is so quick but so fun to witness.
It’s evident that as he holds Carlos close and snuggles in with him that T.K. has something up his sleeve. He’s always been the biggest team player of the house and this moment proves it.
What he does for Nancy is above and beyond anything she ever could’ve asked for. By honoring Tim on the rig, he is telling her that not only is she part of the 126 family but he’s also not here to take Tim’s place.
Yes, T.K. may be filling the spot vacated with Tim’s passing but he cannot be Tim, nor does he want to. 9-1-1: Lone Star continues to explore the after-effects of losing someone so close to them, which can only be a positive move.

Losing her partner puts Nancy in a position no one else in the firehouse can really understand — apart from maybe Judd — and so she feels like she’s no longer a member of the family. It’s beautiful to have that invitation back into the fold be extended by T.K., the only member who has been both a “cool kid” and a “science geek.”
If Nancy is feeling like an outsider in her work family, then Tommy is definitely feeling the strain with her home family. It’s never easy to re-enter the workforce after many years away and Tommy is starting to really see the drawbacks of it.
This is a career woman who also insists on being a mom which means sometimes she drops the ball somewhere. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, her husband picks up the slack big time at home.
Tommy has been a stay-at-home mom for so long she knows the ins and outs of her daughters’ interests and schedules. So of course, she knows how hard her daughter has worked to get her black belt.

The devastation on her face when she first realizes that her husband has taught her daughter a move she’s been struggling with, and then again when he tells her she is making her daughter anxious is heartbreaking.
It makes you want to wrap Tommy in your arms and reassure her that her babies aren’t forgetting her or replacing her. They are just adjusting to who their primary caretaker is.
Ever since coming back to the 126, Captain Vega has been on the fence about her lack of time with her daughters. This episode isn’t going to make her feel any more confident in her decision.
Poor sweet Owen, he really is trying to make things work with his ex-wife and she goes all flakey on him. It’s upsetting that she initially pushes the blame onto him saying that he’s being pushy and stubborn.
So, Owen antagonizes over this for the whole shift only to come home, makes some major compromises, and then she admits he may not be the father. Talk about crushing a guy when he’s already down.

I am starting to like Gwyn going into this episode, but now I question whether or not I do because of how she treated this whole situation. Yes, she didn’t know for sure if her suspicions were correct until her appointment, but she still could’ve mentioned to Owen about Enzo once they’d decided to get serious.
Owen deserves a positive break in his life after all that he’s endured between T.K.’s overdose, the move to Texas, the pandemic, and now this. He is willing to put aside the fact that this child isn’t even his to raise him with Gwyn, and yet that’s still too complicated for her.
She’s known this whole time how she feels about Enzo and Owen. Instead of moving full speed ahead with him because of the pregnancy maybe she should’ve been more honest with him and then they worked through it before deciding their relationship status.
I just hope that Owen doesn’t end up completely burned in the end because it’s not what he deserves. Though I will say watching him let go and smash that Japanese bowl is so satisfying — he needs to work on relinquishing control more often.
