Wynonna Earp to End Syfy Run with Season 4
Earpers have another fight on their hands! Syfy just announced that Wynonna Earp would end its run with the final six episodes of Season 4 which will premiere on Friday, March 5th at 10/9c.
The final episode of Wynonna Earp will air on Friday, April 9th, which will bring the series to a close almost five years from the day of its debut.

“I’d like to thank our wonderful cast and crew, all of whom were instrumental in bringing Wynonna Earp to our loyal and passionate audience,” series creator/showrunner Emily Andras said in a statement that was printed in TVLine.
“We couldn’t be prouder of these last six episodes on Syfy, and are thrilled to share them with our beloved fans, who have changed our lives forever. I have been honored to tell Wynonna and her family’s story, and along with Seven24, Cineflix and CTV Sci-Fi, are hopeful we can continue to share their inspiring tales in the future.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the previously planned Season 5 hinges on the show finding a new distributor. Syfy previously committed to giving viewers a fifth season. The reversal comes as the network is now part of a content group overseen by Frances Berwick and Susan Rovner that includes streamer Peacock, NBC, and all of the company’s cable brands.
Season 4A, which aired this summer reported pulled in modest viewers with an average of 320,000 total viewers and shy of a 0.2 demo rating in LIve+Same Day numbers.

The supernatural series is a two-time People’s Choice winner for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show and a four-time GLAAD Award nominee for Outstanding Drama Series for its representation of LGBTQ characters. Waverly Earp and Nicole Haught also won our Battle of the Ships 2020!
Wynonna Earp Season 4 was in jeopardy in 2019 when IDW Entertainment seemed to be having financial trouble. The fans rallied with the #FightforWynonna hashtag, and were able to secure a fourth season. At the time it was speculated that Syfy paid a higher licensing fee in order to keep the show on the air. Cineflix also came on board to help with the financing in exchange for managing the international rights to the series.
This sudden news has fans questioning if Wynonna Earp will be able to tie up all of its remaining plots with just six episodes.
Tim Rozon, who plays Doc Holiday on the series, seemed to give fans hope that these final six episodes will be fulfilling for their devoted fans.
In an interview with TVLine where Rozon discussed the midseason finale, he said, “This fandom is the most incredible fandom, built on kindness and acceptance…. It’s an incredible thing to be a part of, and this season is the season that fandom deserves.”
