Legacies Review: Hold on Tight (Season 3 Episode 4)
Things take a turn for the worse for the necromancer when he brings Malivore back on Legacies Season 3 Episode 4, “Hold on Tight.”
Meanwhile, Hope and Landon consummate their relationship after a win, Josie decides her fate with magic, and MG gets the girl.
“Hold on Tight” is a whirlwind of an episode that throws me for a loop on how to gauge how the rest of the season will go. We see the rise of Malivore, the necromancer locked in a prison world, Alyssa turned ally again, and Landon is back to being dead, possibly. You know, a typical Thursday night for Legacies.
I love Legacies, but as of right now, the current season is feeling too rushed, and it’s not complimenting the characters. “Hold on Tight” was initially supposed to be the Season 2 finale before Covid hit; however, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s rushed.

What’s the point of having this darkness, angst, and rivalry for the first three episodes of the season and introducing a fun big bad for the season, only to get rid of it all on the fourth episode? Alyssa Chang would have been such a fun villain to have for the season, but in a world where things change every two minutes, I should’ve foreseen it never happening.
Even if these last four episodes were supposed to be the back-end of Season 2, it doesn’t change how rushed everything is. With the opportunity to break in-between shooting for almost a year, I don’t understand why storylines weren’t altered to drag it out instead of ending it at the same pace.
If you’re not a fan that looks things up and simply returns every week to watch a show, it’d be hard to know that these first four episodes were supposed to be for Season 2. There should have been fresh material brought to the table with a brand new season instead of all this action with no build-up.

As much as I don’t like how Alyssa’s evil storyline has come to an end, I have to admit that it’s nice to see MG realize that how Lizzie treats him is exactly how he’s been treating Alyssa.
Do I think they’ll win awards for the cutest couple? Definitely not, mostly after she went full psycho and was going to force him into loving her. But, it could be a nice change for MG to get his mind off of Lizzie Saltzman.
In Lizzie’s mind, MG was always going to be there for her when she needed it, so she didn’t have to make a move or make her mind up on him because to her, he was always going to be available. In the end, though, she takes it incredibly well as she swallows her pride and lets MG and Alyssa have their moment.

With Leo Howard’s promotion to series regular, it looks like this is just the beginning of Ethan and Josie’s budding relationship. However, with their parents currently hooking up and hunting supernatural creatures together, their relationship is more complicated than it looks.
Landon’s supposed death is not shocking at this point because it’s apparent that he’s not going to be killed off for real. He’s died too many times, and it doesn’t fit the storyline. I guess that after being taken over by Malivore, Landon is no longer allowed to leave the same plane as him, or something along those lines, and that’s why he dissolved away.
My only hope for the season going forward is to get some build-up on the character arcs.
