Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 3 Top 15 Moments from Bridgerton Season 1

Top 15 Moments from Bridgerton Season 1

Bridgerton, Lists

Bridgerton Season 1 is a wonderful escape that introduces us to a rich world filled with wonderful characters. It’s impossible not to get swept up in the beautiful scenery and the scandalous drama.

Now that we’ve all binged it (if you haven’t, there are spoilers all over this article), let’s discuss some of the best moments from the season. There are so many to choose from, whether they be heartwarming, swoon-worthy, or hilarious, and narrowing them down to 15 is no small task.

In chronological order, here are our top moments from Bridgerton Season 1:

1. Simon Attends Dinner at the Bridgertons (Season 1 Episode 1)

Bridgerton Family Dinner

There are a couple of reasons why this moment is one of my favorite ones.

For one, we actually see all the Bridgertons together, interacting and being a family. They are spread out throughout the season, and we’re lucky if we get some one on one time between siblings.

This dinner scene highlights all the chaos of a big family and puts a smile on my face, as well as Simon’s.

It also gives us more of Daphne and Simon flirting, pre-fake dating arrangement, which is absolutely delightful. Their bickering is delicious.

We also see a few Bridgerton siblings react to Daphne and Simon. Anthony is concerned, in his big brother way, and Eloise is basically all of us, watching with rapt attention.

2. Colin and Penelope (Season 1 Episode 1)

Bridgerton Colin and Penelope Dance

Colin and Penelope are too cute. It’s clear how in love Penelope is with him during this scene, as is Colin’s obliviousness to this fact. Despite his obliviousness, Colin shows that he is a gentleman who stands up for his friends.

When that bitch Cressida throws her drink on Penelope’s dress, Colin doesn’t hesitate to step in to help his friend.

He doesn’t escort her to dry herself off, no. Colin is aware of how things work at balls, especially during marriage season, so he does the one thing that will annoy Cressida and elevate Penelope’s status — he escorts Penelope to the dance floor.

Here’s hoping that Colin recognizes how awesome Penelope is, and her feelings towards him, soon.

3. Daphne Punching Nigel (Season 1 Episode 1)

Bridgerton Punch

Of course, this moment earns a place on the list because it is so satisfying. To say he had it coming is an understatement. Nigel is a creepy, presumptive jerk.

This moment also shows us a different side of Daphne.

We’ve seen her with her best foot forward, both in the queen’s presence and when entering the marriage scene. However, punching Nigel shows that Daphne is capable of handling herself and will put a man in his place when the situation calls for it.

And we love her for it.

4. Anthony Learns the Truth about Nigel (Season 1 Episode 2)
Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 1

Any scene where Nigel is put in his place brings me joy, let’s be honest. This one showcases how much Simon and Anthony care for Daphne and that they won’t let Nigel interfere in her life anymore.

Simon makes it clear to Anthony that Daphne’s wellbeing concerns him because, apparently, Anthony didn’t fully grasp that during their attempt at a boxing match. Also, the fact that Simon stands up for Daphne in public further shows that he’s a good guy, despite his rake-ish reputation.

His sarcastic remarks interrupting Nigel and Anthony’s conversation are fantastic enough, but Simon eventually reaches his breaking point and fills Anthony in on Nigel’s behavior towards Daphne in the garden the previous night.

Nigel: But we are to be married.

Anthony: You are to be buried if you so much as look in her direction. Be grateful you will not take a punch from yet another Bridgerton.

The moment is made even sweeter when Anthony finally steps up and tells Nigel to never darken Daphne’s doorstep again. It’s about time he acts like a protective older brother in a useful way.

Oh, and then there’s the scene later during the hour where Simon beats the living daylights out of Nigel. That one is very cathartic and, well, hot.

5. Scheming Bridgertons (Season 1 Episode 2)
Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 1

A major theme of Bridgerton is that women are the ones to get things done, relying on a man is not an option.

When Nigel persists in his efforts to wed Daphne after his run-in with Simon, it’s up to the women of the Bridgerton house to see to it that Nigel goes away once and for all.

And while society may not think that the women would dare scoop to scheme, Lady Bridgerton and her staff prove that they are masters at it. They know exactly what to do and how to ensure that it spreads like wildfire all over town.

Daphne: And who will believe a group of women over a man’s word?

Lady Bridgerton: Perhaps no one, but they will if Lady Whistledown does. So we shall do what women do, we shall talk.

It’s fun to see the women of the Bridgerton house rally together to save Daphne from that wretched man. I love how excited Lady Bridgerton is as she asks what they found out after Lady Berbrooke leaves. She’s enjoying the scheming a bit.

This is also excellent proof as to why you should never underestimate a woman.

6. Simon and Daphne’s Snarky Commentary (Season 1 Episode 3)
BRIDGERTON Season 1 Episode 2

It’s fun seeing Daphne and Simon working together to find her a worthy suitor. They share some knowing glances and develop quite a few inside jokes.

You can really see how good of a match Daphne and Simon are during this ball. They are open and honest with each other, offering refreshing, sarcastic commentary on the art of flirting at a ball.

They both learn that the other is a kindred spirit, at least when it comes to mocking people. Daphne and Simon may not know it yet, but they are falling for each other.

What makes this moment even better is Simon’s comment about Prince Friedrich saying the exact same thing to every woman about her dress rings true, as he offers the same compliment to Daphne, who laughs so hard she snorts in response.

7. Anthony and Daphne’s Failed Attempt at a Simple Household Task (Season 1 Episode 3)

Bridgerton Siblings

As if it isn’t clear already, I’m a sucker for some Bridgerton family moments.

Anthony and Daphne have had their share of differences, to put it mildly, so far during Daphne’s marriage season. Anthony has had to step up and fulfill the role that their father would have if he were still alive.

So, we haven’t seen a lot of them on equal footing, acting like siblings.

The two of them staring hopelessly, trying to figure out how to heat up milk puts them on the same level and offers us a glimpse into what their relationship is like, outside of the responsibilities and pressures of this marriage season.

8. Masturbating 101 (Season 1 Episode 3)
Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 1

There are no words for this moment. It’s utter perfection.

In this day in age, it’s shocking to reflect back on a time when women were so sheltered. They don’t know how babies are made, and they have no idea about all the wonderful things you can do on your own.

Simon: What happens between a husband and wife, well, it is a natural continuation of what happens at night.

Daphne: At night? [Laughs] What happens at night?

Simon: When you are alone.

Daphne: When I am sleeping?

Simon: Not when you are sleeping…when you touch yourself.

Daphne approaches Simon because she knows she can trust him to be honest with her, and she gets way more than she bargained for out of this conversation. It’s amusing to watch Simon attempt to get Daphne to catch his drift while Daphne looks more and more innocently confused.

This scene is unexpected and absolutely swoon-worthy. We need to have more romance novels adapted into shows; that’s what this scene tells me.

9. Daphne and Simon’s Kiss in the Garden (Season 1 Episode 4)
BRIDGERTON Season 1 Episode 1
BRIDGERTON (L to R) PHOEBE DYNEVOR as DAPHNE BRIDGERTON and REGÉ-JEAN PAGE as SIMON BASSET in episode 101 of BRIDGERTON Cr. LIAM DANIEL/NETFLIX © 2020

FINALLY!

The two of them finally give into their desires and have a wickedly hot make-out session in the garden. It’s a scene you’ll find yourself rewatching again and again. I mean, Simon’s hands are everywhere, and yes, just go watch it again now.

It’s also the follow-through of a nice bit of foreshadowing from Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 1, “Diamond of the First Water.” Daphne fears what will happen if she is discovered alone with a man, and that fear comes to pass during this moment.

This time, however, Anthony is the Bridgerton who delivers the punch.

10. Lady Bridgerton Drunk (Season 1 Episode 4)
Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 6
BRIDGERTON (L to R) CLAUDIA JESSIE as ELOISE BRIDGERTON, RUTH GEMMELL as LADY VIOLET BRIDGERTON and FLORENCE HUNT as HYACINTH BRIDGERTON in episode 106 of BRIDGERTON Cr. NICK BRIGGS/NETFLIX © 2020

Lady Bridgerton sets a great example for her children throughout the series. She is always put together and looking out for her children’s futures, even if it takes a bit of scheming with Lady Danbury to make it happen.

This is to say, we don’t see her letting loose, up until Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 4, “An Affair of Honor,” when she stumbles home completely drunk, relying on Colin to help her walk.

The morning after hangover is just as hilarious. The only thing that would have made it better is if one of her kids commented on it, perhaps Eloise.

11. Pleading with the Queen (Season 1 Episode 5)
Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 5

Daphne and Simon struggle throughout the season with being honest with each other about their feelings. It can be a bit aggravating at times, making the moments where either of them shares their true feelings even sweeter.

During this particular moment, Simon finally expresses just how much he loves Daphne and their friendship.

Seeing as how he’s been cold and distant ever since being caught in the garden back on Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 4, “An Affair of Honor,” it is more than about time that he expresses some feelings of joy or kindness towards Daphne.

Simon: The young lady flatters me, but it was not love at first sight, for either of us. There was attraction, certainly, at least on my part. But Miss Bridgerton thought me presumptuous, arrogant, insincere — all fair, really. And I thought her a prim young lady barely out of leading strings, not to mention the sister of my best friend, so romance was entirely out of the question for both of us. But in so removing it, we found something far greater; we found friendship. You see, Miss Bridgerton and I have been fooling all of Mayfair for quite some time. We have fooled them into thinking we are courting. When really, all along, we simply enjoyed each other’s company so much, we could not stay away from one another. I have never been a man that much enjoyed flirting, or chatting, or indeed talking at all, but with Daphne, Miss Bridgerton, conversation has always been easy. Her laughter brings me joy. To meet a beautiful woman is one thing, but to meet your best friend in the most beautiful of women is something entirely apart, and it is with my sincerest apologies I must say it took the prince coming along for me to realize I did not want Miss Bridgerton to only be my friend. I wanted her to be my wife. I want her to be my wife, and so I plead with you, not to make us wait.

Simon speaks from his heart without holding anything back. It’s a rare moment for him, and it’s impossible not to tear up at the sentimentality he expresses. He finally lets us, and Daphne, see just how much she means to him.

If only this trend of honesty continued between Daphne and Simon throughout the early days of their marriage with their misunderstandings about Simon’s inability to have children, but let’s not ruin this moment by dwelling on that.

12. The Wedding Night (Season 1 Episode 5)
BRIDGERTON Season 1 Episode 8
BRIDGERTON (L to R) REGÉ-JEAN PAGE as SIMON BASSET and PHOEBE DYNEVOR as DAPHNE BRIDGERTON in episode 108 of BRIDGERTON Cr. LIAM DANIEL/NETFLIX © 2020

At first, I couldn’t decide whether or not to put their first time or their sexytimes montage on this list. Both are fantastic and downright sexy, but I opted for this moment because of the build-up to it.

The anticipation really does make everything better. We see them pacing in their separate rooms, frustrated about the turn of events but not doing anything to change them.

Then, finally, Daphne and Simon finally get their heads out of their asses and are open about what they want: each other.

Daphne: You look angry and bothered. Look at you. You are downright flushed.

Simon: Yes, that is what happens.

Daphne: When one is angry.

Simon: When one burns for someone who does not feel the same!

Daphne: You… burn for me?

Simon: Why do you think I followed you into that garden?

Daphne: Why do you think I went into that garden? If you would have only looked at me this week, for longer than two seconds, you would have seen, it is you I can not sacrifice. I burn for you.

Satisfying doesn’t even begin to express how it feels to see these two finally realize that they love each other. You would think it was obvious, but apparently, Daphne and Simon need to be beaten over the head with it to finally see what is in front of them.

And then, there’s Daphne and Simon consummating their marriage. It’s hotter than I could have imagined, and then Simon makes it even sexier by bringing up his masturbation lesson. Perfection.

13. Wives’ Night Out (Season 1 Episode 7)
Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 1
BRIDGERTON ADJOA ANDOH as LADY DANBURY in episode 101 of BRIDGERTON Cr. LIAM DANIEL/NETFLIX © 2020

Married life hasn’t exactly been what Daphne thought it would be. Sometimes, it’s been better than her, ahem, wildest dreams, and other moments have been quite difficult.

She’s been so focused on carrying out her duties as the Duchess and head of a house that she never even thought about the unconventional societal perks of married life, that is until Lady Danbury invites her to a little party.

We’ve seen Lady Bridgerton and Lady Feathering run their households and guide their daughters through a marriage season, but this is when we see more of the party scene for wives.

It’s a fun look at what the women get up to while their husbands are away, and we also meet some wives who have different views of marriage than Daphne and her mother. It’s an eye-opening experience for Daphne, and it’s also a ton of fun.

14. Lady Featherington’s Marital Advice (Season 1 Episode 8)
Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 6
BRIDGERTON (L to R) POLLY WALKER as PORTIA FEATHERINGTON, RUBY BARKER as MARINA THOMPSON and KATHRYN DRYSDALE as GENEVIEVE in episode 106 of BRIDGERTON Cr. LIAM DANIEL/NETFLIX © 2020

Lady Featherington doesn’t come across as the best mother in town throughout the season. Her scheming takes a bit more sinister route than Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton’s, but her heart is somewhere near the right place… I suppose.

Therefore, it is nice to see her offer some motherly advice to Marina. You can tell that Lady Featherington is being sincere. She’s certainly more helpful than Lady Bridgerton was when Daphne asked for advice.

Lady Featherington offers Marina hope as to what her future marriage with Sir Phillip could be, and in the meantime, we get a glimpse into her marriage with Lord Featherington.

15. Lady Whistledown Reveal (Season 1 Episode 8)
Bridgerton Season 1 Episode 8
BRIDGERTON (L to R) NICOLA COUGHLAN as PENELOPE FEATHERINGTON, BESSIE CARTER as PRUDENCE FEATHERINGTON and HARRIET CAINS as PHILLIPA FEATHERINGTON in episode 10 of BRIDGERTON Cr. LIAM DANIEL/NETFLIX © 2020

This is such a small but very satisfying and exciting moment.

Everyone in town is curious as to who is the person behind Lady Whistledown, and it’s hard not to get swept up in Eloise’s investigation, especially once the Queen gets involved.

The potential for what’s to come in Season 2 is almost as exciting as the reveal itself. Will we see more of Penelope’s Lady Whistledown activities? Will she tell Eloise? How will Eloise react?!

Let’s hope Netflix gives us a Season 2, so we can find out!
