It’s been a long week full of lots of election coverage on television. While that’s dominated the airwaves there have still been a few major casting announcements and happenings in the television world to look out for. 

Take a look at this week’s TV news wrap-up to see what you may have missed. 

William Jackson Harper will headline Love Life Season 2 on HBO Max. 
  • Harper will be succeeding Anna Kendrick who toplined the first season. 
  • Deadline reports that Season 2 will remain set in New York City and focus on Harper’s character as he comes out of a years-long relationship with the woman he thought would be his person. Now, he’s on a quest for the romantic fulfillment he thought. he already found. 
  • Harper is best known for his role as Chidi on The Good Place, and he recently wrapped production of Barry Jenkins’ Amazon limited series The Underground Railroad.

Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos is set to have a recurring role opposite Uzo Aduba on HBO’s In Treatment
  • The new season of In Treatment stars Uzo Aduba as an empathic therapist who is wrestling with her own issues. 
  • Deadline reports that Ramos will play Eladio, “…a patient who works as a home health aide for a wealthy family’s adult son.”
  • Additional casting has yet to be announced.
Holly Robinson Peete joins American Housewife Season 5 in a recurring role. 
  • Deadline reports that Pete will play Tami, a close friend of Katie and the other Ottos before they moved to Westport. 
  • The relationship between Tami and Katie is described as follows, “Tami helped Katie quite a bit when Katie was a new mom — Katie always looked to Tami for advice, even considering her to be a bit “mom sensei.” When Tami’s two older children went off to college, she and her husband celebrated being empty-nesters. That celebration resulted in a now eight-year-old daughter. So when Tami moves to Westport with a youngster of her own, Katie is thrilled to reconnect with her old friend and hopes to return the favor and help her out.”
  • American Housewife returns to production next week.

Claws suspends production for two weeks after a positive COVID-19 test.
  • Production on the fourth and final season stopped after a team member tested positive for COVID-19. 
  • Deadline reports that the team member was asymptomatic and the positive result was found via the testing required by Warner Bros. TV. 
  • The decision to shut down for two weeks was made out of an abundance of caution. 
  • Production on Claws Season 4 was well underway in New Orleans before production was halted in March amind the growing coronavirus pandemic.

BBC announces plans for a new Brideshead Revisited miniseries. 
  • Mammoth Screen is reportedly attached to the project, and Call Me By Your Name helmer, Luca Guadagnino is on board to write and direct. 
  • Deadline reports, “BBC drama controller Piers Wenger has been speaking to Guadagnino about an adaptation for two years and has flown to Italy to discuss the project with the writer/director.”
  • Casting news reported by The Daily Mail is said to have been premature. 
  • Brideshead Revisited was previously adapted by ITV in 1981 and the subject of a major motion picture in 2008. 
  • The series is set to go into production next year.

Charmed paused production for one day after a positive COVID-19 test.
  • Charmed was one of the first series who restarted production but paused for a day after an individual tested positive for COVID-19.
  • CBS Studios followed the COVID-19 protocols and started conducting contact tracing.
  • Deadline reports that this is the second time the production has shut down due to COVID-19 related testing. Last month, a delay in testing results shut down the series for several days.

Christopher Walken is joining the cast of Apple TV’s Severance
  • The dark workplace dramedy centers around Lumen Industries, which seeks to take work-life balance to new heights by separating work and out and work memories with a “severance procedure.”
  • According to Deadline, Walken will play Burt, the department Head of Optics and Design at Lumen Industries.
  • He will lead alongside Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, and John Turturo.
Hulu has canceled Castle Rock after two seasons. 
  • Deadline confirmed the cancellation but noted that while Season 2 premiered over a year ago, no plans had been announced for Season 3, suggesting the decision was made a while ago. 
  • Castle Rock is produced by Warner Bros. TV, a studio that was an early supplier of Hulu’s original content. However, recently Warner Bros has shifted to supplying content to WarnerMedia’s streaming service HBO Max.
  • There are no plans for Castle Rock to continue on HBO Max.
