Honestly, waiting for a new episode of This Is Us can be the worst.
Thankfully, This Is Us Season 5 Episode 4, “Honestly,” promises to be worth the wait with the introduction of several new dynamics — specifically, work dynamics.
It’s safe to say our favorite drama series is back and that means Pearsons are back to work as well.
Randall would be smart to stay clear of mixing family and business during such a crucial time in his career. Except that’s exactly what he plans to do by allowing Malik to experience what a councilman’s duties look like first hand.
This unlikely pairing continues to prove fathers and their adopted daughter’s boyfriends should absolutely hang out more, but something tells me this chance for Malik to shadow Randall won’t come without some kind of workplace drama.
Kevin, on the other hand, has been putting in the work to ensure he can be a worthy parent for the twins. But his acting abilities have taken a backseat to his own life story lately and that doesn’t exactly impress his new director.
Now that his career and family are taking off, Kevin will have to find a way to balance his desire to be one of the greatest actors of his generation and the greatest father his kids can have.
These are his two greatest roles and there may not be enough room in Kevin’s life to do both down the road.
Kevin may not be at that crossroads yet but Ellie, the woman carry Toby and Kate’s baby, is certainly debating her decision to give up her unborn child. It’s a fear the two parents had seemingly put behind them in favour of hope and Buffy references.
Unfortunately, it looks like no amount of cool pop-culture references can keep Ellie from contemplating such a huge life choice and that could spell trouble in parenthood once again for Kate and Toby.
Episode description: Malik shadows Randall at work; Kevin struggles to connect with his new movie director; Jack and Rebecca struggle to sleep train their babies.
