No TV show understands the changes of life better than This Is Us.
So it seems only right that This Is Us Season 5 Episode 3, “Changes,” would settle in to this new normal by focusing on the collective changes of life, and the scariest change of all for parents of teenagers — puberty.
The time has finally come for Jack and Rebecca to experiencing puberty as a parent with not one irritable teen, but triple the emotionally-unstable tyrants. And they’re not the only ones struggling to understand the teen mind these days.
Beth will have the privilege of learning firsthand what it’s like to quarantine with two teenagers. Something tells me online school schedules will be the least of her worries by the end of this.
Of course, this episode wouldn’t tackle the topic of change without diving deeper into the two biggest changes facing the Pearson family in the present day.
We’ll see how Kevin and Madison are dealing with their spur of the moment engagement. Presumably, there will be trouble in paradise for these two as well, but who knows? This isn’t the first time Kevin has navigated an impromptu proposal, and one has to hope he’s learned something from his first fast-paced marriage.
We will also be checking in on Kate and Toby as they meet with the woman carrying the baby they’re hoping to adopt. It’s a situation that once again puts these two at the mercy of chance in the child department.
It seems this episode is very much getting back to the winning-formula that transcends timelines and weaves the most basic of human experiences into one cohesive piece — as if tackling multiple teens in the midst of puberty isn’t even that hard!
