Preview — Swamp Thing Season 1 Episode 3: He Speaks

Previews, Swamp Thing

Things are not slowing down in Marais any time soon.

Abby searches for a cure when someone close to her is stricken with “green flu” on Swamp Thing Season 1 Episode 3, “He Speaks.”

Abby finds evidence of yet another supernatural reanimation from the Rot instead of an antidote. The episode’s description focuses on the science of saving Abby’s friend Harlan, but the promo video spotlights a larger confrontation between Abby and Swamp Thing.

This suggests that the evidence Abby finds from the Rot in Alec’s lab could lead her to better understand how to save Alec, especially now that she knows he is Swamp Thing. Since the Rot is so closely associated with death and the decay of natural things, it’s also possible that this information could lead to a cure for the epidemic.

There are so many intricate connections between the “green flu” and Alec’s altered state. It’s only logical for the two to fold together at some point.

It’s almost shocking that so much will happen so early in the season.

This is only the third episode and Abby has more to handle than she ever likely bargained for. Lives depend on her ability to do the right thing with the right information.

Swamp Thing’s decision to amplify this aspect so early in the season reestablishes confidence in the stories it’s telling, and also the heroine eyes through which we see these stories.
