The 100: Which Characters We Think Will Survive Season 7… and Which Ones Probably Won’t

Lists, The 100

The 100s final season has not been shy to sacrifice characters, already killing off plenty of Disciples, a plethora Sanctum residents, the entirety of the Children of Gabriel, Anders, Russell, Diyoza, Sachin (Nelson), and Bellamy’s characterization.

With only four episodes left of the season and no future seasons to plan for, any character could be on the chopping block.

And with multiple new science fiction elements introduced into The 100final season, the avenues of death are more numerous than they have ever been before. That’s not even mentioning the possibility of transcendence, a possible fate introduced in full form only on The 100 Season 7 Episode 11, “Etherea.”

While we’re waiting for the next episode (The 100 returns on September 9th), let’s take a stab at each of the main players’ main fate for the end of the series.

Clarke Griffin: Survive
The 100 Clarke Griffin Eliza Taylor 7x08 Anaconda
Created by: immortalpramheda on Tumblr.

Clarke Griffin has been through it, tortured latest by the perceived betrayal from Bellamy directly after finding out her dead best friend was in fact alive. She’s lost so much and sacrificed so much; it wouldn’t be cruel to kill her after everything.

That is not what saves her, however. Whether Clarke remains alive or transcends in some form (ridiculous, we know), the past criticisms of The 100‘s treatment of LGBT characters are the protagonist’s saving grace.

After the rightful outcry after Lexa’s death, The 100 is unlikely to kill off any more LGBT characters, especially at risk of another pushback overshadowing the ending of the series.

Clarke deserves to live, and more than that, she deserves to thrive, if not for a show that has a light at the end of the tunnel, but for a fanbase that saw themselves for the first time in a protagonist on broadcast TV.

Bellamy Blake: Die
The 100 Bellamy Blake 7x12 The Stranger
Created by: damnsalvatore on Tumblr.

This one will break hearts.

Bellamy, who likely will not make it to the finale, has already been missing for the majority of the season. Not only has he had little screentime, but he also was missing from all promotional material prior to the season. None of these are good indicators for Bellamy’s ending or that we’ll get some closure for the fan-favorite character.

A character who has always put others before himself, Bellamy’s new priorities puts him at odds with the rest of the protagonists. This makes it much more likely that Bellamy will follow Clarke’s other love interests’ paths, even if just in regards to their final fate.

Bellamy’s death is cruel to fans at this point, as it feels like he’s died over and over again: once when the promotional material was released, again when his screentime was killed, a third time when Bellamy’s dubious plot complicated the traits that made Bellamy Bellamy, and the inevitable last time when Bellamy finally dies, yet to air.

There’s even a possibility that won’t be the last time, depending on how his legacy is handled in the post-series press to come.

Octavia Blake: Die
The 100 7x02 The Garden Octavia Blake Hope Diyoza Charmaine Diyoza
Created by: justforn0thing on Tumblr.

It’s hard to introduce a plot device that moves time at a rapid pace without intending to use it to age a character to the end of their life. It’s the rule of Chekov’s time dilation planet, not to mention this plot device has worked effectively before. For an example of this, check out Interstellar.

If Clarke’s friends that Cadogan sent away on The 100 Season 7 Episode 12, “The Stranger,” aren’t rapidly aging on Penance right now, the most likely candidate for this fate would be Octavia.

Penance is where Octavia ultimately found peace and her own small-knit family. Her experiences in Penance are also what drew her to seek forgiveness from her brother and promoted positive change within herself. Octavia spending her later years in Sky Ring would bring her full circle.

After all, Marie Avgeropoulos did admit this to Entertainment Weekly regarding Octavia’s ending, “I’m very pleased that finally, the audience is going to see something from her that they haven’t quite seen before. And ultimately I think Octavia deserves that ending after everything she’s been through.”

A peaceful death of natural causes would check all of these marks.

Echo: Survive
The 100 Echo 7x11 Etherea Tasya Teles
Created by: jasperjoordan on Tumblr.

Echo’s trajectory this season has been a bouncy one.

Season 7 has cemented Echo’s role in The 100narrative to that of the woman in love with Bellamy, and nothing more. This makes her survival more likely, as Bellamy’s more likely death will impact her, but in a different way than his fake-out death had.

When Season 7 started, the plot felt like it was building to a situation similar to Finn’s final arc, but instead, Echo once again avoided any real consequences, even as she attempted genocide, left allies to rot, and tortured people for information.

It seems unlikely that The 100 would change its mind about holding her to different standards than the rest of the characters at this point, making it more likely that she’ll somehow come around and miraculously learn how to uphold the morals Bellamy unholds.

Echo, who once could have easily left the series in a sacrificial death for redemption, will probably live. If not for her lazy redemption arc, then for her upgraded status as a leading woman for the majority of the final season.

Hope Diyoza: Survive
The 100 Hope Diyoza Shelby Flannery 7x06 Nakara
Created by: daily-hundred on Tumblr.

Hope is likely to survive The 100 as she has several things going for her.

Not only is Hope a second-generation character (and therefore likely to survive due to the epilogue potential), but she also joined the main cast this season. With her arc one of the most prominent of the season, it wouldn’t be logical to push the audience as hard as the series did to emotionally connect to her if she were only to die by the end of the season.

Her mother’s death also served to save Hope’s humanity and would pack less of a punch, especially to streaming views, if her death ended up being for naught. While The 100 may be dark, love continuously acts as the binding agent of the series and surely will be what allows transcendence in the end, if transcendence is what Cadogan thinks it is.

Raven Reyes: Toss-Up
The 100 False Gods 7x03 Raven Reyes Lindsey Morgan
Created by: clakregriffin on Tumblr.

Raven Reyes’s fate has factors that could support her both dying and surviving.

Raven is very valuable plot-wise. She has skills and abilities that allow for plot progression without using a Deux ex Machina. She’s an engineer, a pilot, and enhanced by having ALIE in her brain previously. These elements, although partly shared with Jordan, could keep her alive until the end.

Narratively speaking, she’s been through a lot as well.

Along with typical character development and conflict, Raven’s been valuable representation to many people with a disability, which could help keep her safe as well considering the criticism The 100 has faced regarding the way it handled Lexa.

Raven, however, also showed the beginnings of an arc at the beginning of Season 7 which focused on her guilt after sacrificing others for the good of Sanctum and her friends. This plot seems to have been forgotten, however.

While Raven’s guilt and sudden inner turmoil could have driven her to a sacrifice for her friends that could give her a last chance to go boom, Raven largely has flown under the radar the past few seasons.

For her to have the epic send-off she deserves, she would require adequate screentime and attention, which she hasn’t gotten enough of with only four episodes remaining.

So, this could go either way.

John Murphy: Die
The 100 The Queen's Gambit 7x07 John Murphy Richard Harmon
Created by: daily-hundred on Tumblr.

John Murphy is heralded as “The Cockroach,” but even if cockroaches can withstand more radiation, that doesn’t mean they can live forever. Murphy’s plot of experiencing death and becoming terrified of it seems to only conclude naturally with John Murphy facing death without coming back.

After all, Murphy, while sometimes regressing back to his self-first (and Emori) mentality, has shifted his gears in Season 7 as he’s thrust into leadership, spending most of the final season attempting to save those that he can from Sheidheda’s reign in Sanctum.

His repetitive choices to protect children, especially, double-down on the idea of Murphy as a leader prepared to sacrifice himself. Finally, with multiple people recently expressing their pride in him, John Murphy is surrounded by red flags.

Murphy’s story ends in his death but only as a result of true devotion to his family and his newfound people. With his multiple close calls and the last season cementing his final priorities as his own brand of altruism, it’s hard to believe Murphy will end the series living quietly in the farmhouse.

Jordan Green: Toss-Up
The 100 7x04 Hesperides Jordan Green Nathan Miller Jarod Joseph Shannon Kook
Created by: daily-hundred on Tumblr.

Jordan Green is a toss-up because even The 100 doesn’t know what to do with him.

On one hand, Jordan is not only a legacy character but one of Monty, who was known for his moral goodness and strive for personal betterment.

This is encouraging for his likelihood of survival especially with a ‘test’ to judge humanity looming over our heroes. The fact that he has technical know-how like his father also makes it likely Jordan will at least make it to the finale.

But then again, The 100 uses Jordan inconsistently.

At times he will speak up about his father’s legacy, and other times he’ll console others for their less than desirable actions. He’s been used for revelations that come from thin air, and he’s been randomly injured leaving him out of the picture for episodes at a time.

Jordan is a character that should have been great, and still is to a degree, but inconsistency has left his fate difficult to pinpoint, leaving him as a toss-up.

Emori: Survive
The 100 Emori Luisa D'Oliveira
Created by: doortotomorrow on Tumblr.

Emori is most likely safe. With our prediction of Murphy dying, odds are, his final act will be one that saves her (and others’) lives.

Emori also has foreshadowing of a possible pregnancy. Nikki previously told her she had a glow on The 100 Season 7 Episode 7, “The Queen’s Gambit,” and with the amount of bedroom scenes allotted to Murphy and Emori this season, it would be no shock to find out she’s carrying a child.

Not only is Emori likely seeing this through to the end, but she is likely to bring Murphy’s legacy into the picture as well.

Gabriel Santiago: Die
The 100 Gabriel Santiago Chuku Modu
Created by: clarkgriffon on Tumblr.

Gabriel has more lived life than perhaps any other character on The 100So much that if he had his way, he wouldn’t be alive today.

With the mystery of the anomaly most likely solved by the end of the season, that doesn’t leave Gabriel with much to live for. With his primary motivations fulfilled, the love of his life dead by his own hand, his people massacred, and his newfound family quick to claim that he’s betrayed them, there won’t be much keeping Gabriel around.

Perhaps out of anybody currently on the show, Gabriel exudes the “do better” mentality that most of our characters try to reach and inevitably fail. Gabriel feels he has much to atone for, and hopefully, through giving his life in the mission to save humanity (whether that’s transcending or otherwise), he can finally rest and find peace.

Niylah and Nathan Miller: Survive
The 100 7x08 Anaconda Niylah Jessica Harmon Jarod Joseph Nathan Miller
Created by: wonderwrman on Tumblr.

Niylah and Miller are in the same boat regarding their fate on The 100Both characters are present for Clarke’s arc in the final season but are currently sequestered away on an unknown planet for safekeeping.

While Niylah mainly stands around and offers a quip every now and then, Miller has a bit more involvement in the final season, getting the opportunity to act as Clarke’s go-to gun guy.

He also has had some more in-depth material that didn’t make it to screen, based on released scripts that have cut lines and promotional images for scenes that never made it to air. Both characters serve essentially as LGBT set decoration at this point.

Even though these characters are in close proximity to danger, right now they are away from harm, and as tertiary characters, there probably isn’t enough time to dedicate to their demise, unless it were last minute. Also, as both characters are LGBT, they probably are also in the safe zone as hopefully, The 100 will avoid burying any more gays.

Madi Griffin: Survive
The 100 A Little Sacrifice 7x10 Madi Lola Flanery
Created by: immortalpramheda on Tumblr.

Madi has had a rough childhood, even before meeting Clarke. She’s been through a lot in her limited years on Earth (and other planets).

As much as The 100 loves to see Clarke suffer, it’s hard to imagine adding losing Madi to the list of ways to hurt her in the remaining episodes.

Also, with the Flame in the state it is, Madi also has some plot-armor, considering she still has images of the anomaly stone in her head. If the Flame cannot be fixed, or it needs to be rebuilt, Madi, along with Sheidheda, may have the necessary knowledge to help access the anomaly stone, and subsequently, doomsday.

With these things considered, and her status as a second-generation character (along with Hope and Jordan), Madi may live to see the end of all of this.

Indra: Toss-Up
The 100 Indra Adina Porter
Created by: carla-roson on Tumblr.

Indra’s trajectory this season has been unlike anything she’s been given before. While Indra generally exists in a supporting role, she has been one of the characters elevating to leading status in Season 7, and undoubtedly the one whose new role is most earned.

It’s not as easy to kill off a character with an elevated status.

Indra’s prevalent role in the conflict with Sheidheda puts her in proximity to danger, but at the same time, she still has characters she needs closure with, Octavia and Gaia to name a few. While these relationships potentially keep her safe for the time being, this may just put off her demise until the very end.

But, seeing Indra put an end to Sheidheda and his tyrannical abuse would be cathartic, no?

Gaia: Survive
The 100 7x04 Hesperides Gaia Tati Gabrielle
Created by: daily-hundred on Tumblr.

Gaia, where did you go?

With Gaia being missing since The 100 Season 7 Episode 4, “Hesperides,” and existing as an important character in the show with connections to multiple people, it’s hard to believe that her whereabouts will not be resolved by the end of the season. Whether Gaia is on Earth or some other planet remains to be seen.

However, with a massive plot convergence to come on The 100 Season 7 Episode 13, “Blood Giant,” Gaia has a maximum of four episodes left of screentime, and that’s not a lot of time to reacclimate to the plot, receive closure, and die.

And as Tati Gabrielle, the actress who plays Gaia, previously spoke at Polaris Con in 2017 about how there was a plan on having Gaia be LGBT — it has not been stated inside the show — Gaia simply just doesn’t have time or room to die.

This is a relief as Gaia’s role in Madi’s life and her journey of faith are incredibly important. Gaia deserves as happy as an ending as The 100 is capable of.

Sheidheda: Die
The 100 Russheda Sheidheda
Created by: immortalpramheda on Tumblr.

Does anybody think Sheidheda is going to get out of this one alive?

Yes, he’s done a decent job so far, but the Sanctum plot has been stretch out this long seemingly to allow Bardo’s narrative to catch up. With only four episodes left, and Sheidheda acting as a big-bad in more way than one, it’ll be time to say goodbye to Dark Commander, soon.

The Flame: Eternal

The 100 Clarke Griffin The Flame

Every time The 100 appears as it has finally put the Flame to rest and moved on, it comes crawling back. At this point, it’s absurd to think it won’t have a major stake in the final events of The 100, leaving it as the true false God of the series.
