Sam Littlefield Talks ‘Batwoman’ and Whether or Not Mouse Could Ever Have a Happy Ending [Exclusive Interview]
The CW is arguably one of the best places to catch the average daily life of the modern age superhero. The aesthetics these shows capture range from gritty realism to childlike wonder, and everything in between. Batwoman aims for the darkest of the dark.
In Season 1 alone, we have already seen face removals, decapitated heads, and suicide attempts. That’s not even mentioning the insane villains that pop up week after week.
With the tragic backstory of Alice at the forefront of this season, her origin wouldn’t be complete without her partner in crime, Mouse, played by the talented Sam Littlefield.

Their relationship makes it hard to not root for the villain. Sam Littlefield and Rachel Skarsten’s interaction and zany antics truly are a highlight of each episode.
Although Mouse isn’t the mastermind of these ordeals, Alice would just be a “c” grade villain without his certain skill set. The brutal honesty Sam Littlefield gives the character is undeniable. Even when he is doing the dirtiest of deeds, the fans can’t help but feel empathy for this man born from one monster and handed off to another.
Littlefield recently took the time to answer a few questions about his role on the series.

Tell-Tale TV: Did you do any special training or research for your role on Batwoman?
Littlefield: I watched Batman Returns. Michelle Pfeiffer was my spirit guide.
Tell-Tale TV: Do you think that Mouse has any chance of achieving a happy ending?
Littlefield: I do. I think Mouse has been bumping into walls his entire life — trying to figure out how to be a person in this life. In a lot of ways, I think the series has been a coming of age story for Mouse.
Tell-Tale TV: Do you think Mouse sees himself as a villain?
Littlefield: Not at all actually. I think he’s just trying to survive. I think he’s just looking for his home.
Tell-Tale TV: Have you had any relationships that mirror the connection Mouse has with Alice?
Littlefield: I think all familial relationships have a little Mouse and Alice in them. Love, hurt, and hate.

Tell-Tale TV: Where do you think Mouse would be if Alice was never brought into his life?
Littlefield: Oh gosh, I don’t know. I think if it weren’t Alice, it probably would’ve been some other poor girl.
Tell-Tale TV: Looking at your resume, it seems like you’ve been all over television and movie sets. This includes everything from actor to writer and even director. Which one of these roles is your favorite? And where do you hope to head next?
Littlefield: Acting is the most comfortable I suppose because I’ve been doing it since I was 9 — but I really love writing stories. I don’t know, they all have their peaks and valleys. I hope I can just keep working in all facets.
Tell-Tale TV: Do you have any hobbies outside of the entertainment industry?
Littlefield: I take a lot of road trips.
