Good Girls Review: Synergy (Season 3 Episode 11)
We’ve come to the unplanned finale of Good Girls Season 3, and while Good Girls Season 3 Episode 11, “Synergy” is an interesting ending, it’s far from a fulfilling one.
In so many ways, it feels like “Synergy” is the end of a long walk to get Beth, Annie, and Ruby right back where they started in Season 2.
So many parts of “Synergy” feel like recycled plot with very obvious callbacks. Usurping Beth’s idea to launder the money by selling hot tubs is just a repeat of when Rio wanted to use the car dealership. We all remember how well that turned out right?

This is the unplanned finale, and while Good Girls writing style lends itself well to cliffhangers, this one feels too open-ended and way to similar to where they ended Season 2.
Good Girls Season 3 gave us some character growth, but it sadly came in all the wrong places. While Beth continues to dance between Rio and Dean, Ruby and Annie were able to grow as characters making them the most interesting parts of the season to watch.
Annie takes a bit of a backseat on this episode, and that’s okay, but Ruby and Stan’s continued push and pull with what it means to be a good person is the highlight of this episode.
I’ve said before that Ruby and Stan are the most solid couple on Good Girls, and that continues to be true. Seeing them fight hurts, but when it comes to their motives, it always go back to Sara.

Sara’s health is a card that’s always going to be played to justify their actions; it’s not a card that should be celebrated, but it’s definitely a card that carries empathy. Their desire to be good people also makes them vulnerable, and when those two points are combined compelling stories emerge.
Case in point, Phoebe going to get a manicure from Ruby and stealing her phone. The subterfuge of Phobe’s character is interesting. She has a hapless girlfriend quality similar to Lucy earlier this season.Getting close to Ruby and gathering intel from her phone is an interesting way in, and while I worry for the girls, I am more curious as to how Phoebe’s infatuation is going to go down. She’s very different compared to our girls, but that could set up for an interesting drama.

When Phoebe walks up to them in the park and asks them what they’re celebrating she sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s hard to believe that they won’t see her as an agent, but if they don’t and she ends up in the fold, it has the potential for some very interesting drama.
So many parts of this season feel unfinished, and I really wish that this season could have run it’s course. Should Good Girls get picks up I do hope they will explore what happens when the girls are in control of their own business because they deserve it.
Stray Thoughts:
- Can’t resist cheering when Beth stole the hot tubs from Gail. Gail totally deserved it.
- Really tired of Beth and Dean always circling his infidelity. While he seemed to be growing on me this season, the fact that they always end up in a “is he going to cheat?” conversation makes me wish Beth would make a bold move.
- Ruby and the girls robbing Stan is next level. I am honestly surprised they managed to work the volcano in. That was a very surprising tie-in.
- Very glad Ruby accepted the ring. I understand her reasons for not wanting to, but I think that they’ve tried to keep their moral center for a while and if what they get out of it is a diamond ring, then I’m fine with that.
- Speaking of buying things you can’t afford: the car purchase is going to come back to haunt them isn’t it?
