15 TV Characters Who Could Use Some Luck
There is a yin and yang to life, even when it comes to the lives of fictional characters.
A good thing happens. A bad thing happens. They find their way out of the bad things, and things get good only to get bad again.
This constant bell curve can be much more dramatic when it comes to television characters. It almost has to be so–you know–there can be a show.
Yet, even when there’s a way out, sometimes the situation seems so bad that you just have to hope something swings in favor of your favorite characters.
Here we’re taking a look at some of the characters who could use a little luck to get out of their situations. Some are unlucky in love, some just have poor judgment, some genuinely made a mistake.
Take a look at fifteen TV characters we think need a hand from Lady Luck. Warning: this list contains spoilers.
1. The Girls (Good Girls)

Annie, Beth, and Ruby could use a little luck getting their business back from Rio.
These women have had more on their plates then they could handle since the pilot episode, but Good Girls Season 3 presented us with a very different future. Instead of a life servitude under Rio, they were going to strike out on their own and were invested in acquiring skills and resources to start printing their own counterfeit money.
Yes, their chosen venture is illegal, but it’s also refreshing to see these women take charge of their future. That all changed with the realization that Rio isn’t dead, and reached a critical mass on Good Girls Season 3 Episode 5, “Au Jus.”
Lines have been drawn now. Annie, Beth, and Ruby are tools to aid the counterfeit printing of Rio’s operation, and they’ve sacrificed their friend to do it. They can’t take that back, and they no longer control the art used to make their money.
Objectively, it’s looking more and more likely that they are going to have to take Rio out for good in order to eventually have any sort of freedom. Seeing as how that isn’t going to be an easy task, they could use all the luck (and help!) they can get.
2. Jane Doe (Blindspot)

Not only did Jane Doe spend most of Blindspot Season 4 dying, but she also did it with her original personality driving her. Even though her friends were able to stop Remy and save her from dying with a cure for ZIP poisoning, the trouble didn’t stop — it just dragged the entire team into it.
In the last few minutes of Blindspot Season 4 Episodes 21 & 22, “Masters of War 1.5-8/The Gang Gets Gone,” Jane Doe is the lone survivor of a drone attack on a cabin that the rest of her team members were hiding out after being accused of a terrorist attack.
In the past, Jane would have leaned on her teammates for help and information, but with the fiery inferno that was once the cabin, she’s going to need to look for help elsewhere.
Hopefully, this is where her memories from her life as Remy will come into play.
3. Lilith/Madam Satan (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina)

It’s not easy being the first woman, witch, and mother of demons.
While Sabrina Spellman is living her teenage life and simultaneously ruling over hell at the end of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3, Lilith is not so lucky.
Even though Lilith left Greendale with the crown on Part II, she quickly lost it when Sabrina showed up in hell and claimed it for herself to save Nicholas Scratch. To quote Lilith herself: “Of course it’s about a boy!”
As if being ousted wasn’t enough, Lucifer is pissed at her and is sending her messages to spook her. It doesn’t matter if Lilith flees though, because, in the end, he needs her to help get him out of the body he now shares with Faustus Blackwood.
It’s an epic game of mixed signals with these two, but fortunately, Lilith isn’t stupid.
Making a choice that no woman should ever have to make and dealing a blow to the feminist message her character so clearly stood for in Part II, she conspires with Blackwood to impregnate herself with Lucifer’s child.
On Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, pregnancy is a thirteen-month solution to a permanent (I’m assuming) problem. Fortunately, Lilith is rather skilled at working in the shadows, and hopefully, she’ll find a way to use these circumstances to her advantage.
Personally, I think they’re moving towards a “my mother she killed me, my father he ate me” scenario.
4. Jim Hopper (Stranger Things)

To say Chief Hopper needs some luck going into Stranger Things Season 4 is an understatement.
A recent Stranger Things Season 4 teaser showed Hopper in a Russian camp quickly quelling any fear that maybe David Harbour wasn’t returning to play this beloved character.
The downside? He’s in Russia! That’s half a world away from Indiana, and he’s stuck with a gorgon.
Not to mention, Joyce finally pulled the trigger and moved away so now not only does he need to get out of the prison camp, but he also has to figure out where Joyce took Eleven.
Given how many weird things seem to follow these characters, he’s likely going to have to survive something else at the same time.
Hopefully, he steals a very powerful secret Russian weapon in the process of escaping.
5. Eve Polastri (Killing Eve)

Turnabout is fair play on Killing Eve.
Killing Eve Season 2 Episode 8, “You’re Mine,” ended with Villanelle shooting Eve Polastri. More importantly than that, both Eve and Villanelle have pissed off some very powerful people.
We don’t know much about who Villanelle works for and that lack of knowledge is what makes them scary. Going into Killing Eve Season 3, we don’t know what to expect, but we know that might come at them.
We can assume Eve survives the gunshot wound based on publicity photos that have been released, but given that I can’t imagine Eve is keen to team up with Villanelle how is she gonna survive the assassin’s former employers?
Let’s be honest, it’s likely going to be with the help of Eve, but I can’t imagine that there won’t be some reminders that “You shot me!” dropped in the process.
6. Tommy Shelby (Peaky Blinders)

Tommy collaborated with certain politicians to bring about the rise of nationalism in Britain. That’s not out of character for Tommy, he’s always been ambitious, and he’s always been lucky enough to get out of it.
The stakes were raised even more this season, showing the World War I veteran’s mental health unraveling.
Combine the rapid acceleration to a breakdown with attempted hits on his family, as well as contention with a rival gangster, it’s safe to say that Tommy has a lot to be afraid of and a lot to lose.
By the final scene of Peaky Blinders Season 5, Tommy Shelby is in deep and his fate remains uncertain, and we’re worried.
7. Raven Reyes (The 100)

Give Raven Reyes a happy ending on The 100 Season 7, would ya?
Let’s recap. In the first few seasons, she lost her boyfriend, got shot, had her hip drilled into for bone marrow, and almost died thanks to an EMP that saved her from the City of Light.
Then after going back to space, she stranded herself on a ship to keep prisoners cryosleep. She then spent some time in captivity wearing a shock collar.
She finally seems to find some happiness with the pilot of the prison ship, We were happy she found Shaw; she deserved it. Raven is a brilliant character who continuously bails her friends out of situations and deserves a few moments of domestic bliss.
Then Shaw died exploring Sanctum, and another person she got close to ended up being Marcus Kane’s new host.
Come on! How has she not sworn herself to a life of isolation and celibacy already?
It’s unclear what the final season of The 100 has in store for these characters, but it better contain a happy ending for Raven.
8. Waverly Earp (Wynonna Earp)

Oh Waverly, what does Wynonna Earp Season 4 have in store for you?
At the end of Wynonna Earp Season 3, Waverly and Doc were swooped up by the Garden’s stairs, and presumably, Waverly is now the Garden’s new protector.
You’d think that would mean a life of planting flours and nurturing plants right? Wrong? From the look on Waverly’s face, she’s more of its prisoner.
Fortunately, she has a sister who’s ready to help her. Since the Earp curse is broken, Wynonna no longer has to save the world. She can focus on finding her baby sister and breaking her free of the Garden’s evil clutches.
Good because it looks like she’s gonna need it!
9. The Doctor (Doctor Who)

The Doctor has been in some tough jams, but Doctor Who Season 12 Episode 10, “The Timeless Child,” really packed a new punch and changed everything.
There’s a whole new part of the Doctor’s past that even they don’t know about, and it includes a secret society called The Division.
It’s enough to have the Doctor have an identity crisis, but we can’t forget that somewhere along the way the Doctor became a fugitive and has now been imprisoned by the Judoon on an asteroid.
It seems slightly hopeless. No Tardis. No fam. No one to come looking.
And somehow, I don’t think she’s going to get out of this by saying, “It wasn’t me,” or “I don’t remember.” The Judoon just do not seem that reasonable.
10. Amelia Shepherd (Grey’s Anatomy)

Things are just starting to go right for her, so we’re requesting her luck be used to maintain that status quo.
Pregnancy and Amelia are not two concepts that have always gone well together. Her first baby was anencephalic, and she had to make the heartbreaking choice to donate his organs.
Naturally, she’s a little hesitant about any future pregnancies, and relationships aren’t exactly her bread and butter either because, you know, the brain tumor that had been growing in her head for years.
After all of that, she’s found a stable relationship with her boyfriend Linc, and the baby is now confirmed to be his. This is what Amelia deserves: to be happy, tumor-free, and living her life with someone who loves her back.
So don’t mess that up.
11. Grace Hansen and Frankie Bergstein (Grace & Frankie)

No one likes coming home and finding their ex-husbands, who left them for each other, sitting outside their beach house.
Rober and Saul are moving in for Grace & Frankie Season 7, and we can just imagine the old wounds this is gonna open up. It’s taken seasons for these four people to end up on good terms, but now they’re going to be in a pressure cooker situation.
Given the events of the series so far, it sounds like the final season of Grace & Frankie is going to be full of lawyers, comedy, and questioning what might have been. Just please don’t let Frankie and Saul sleep together again.
12. Kim Burgess (Chicago P.D.)

Kim has had a rough deal on Chicago P.D. this season. She found out she was pregnant with Adam Ruzek’s baby but then got into a fight with a bad guy who brutally beat her to the point of miscarriage.
As a result, her relationship with Adam is falling apart as she shuts down to deal with the tragedy. Though they weren’t romantically involved, they were on the same page about how to co-parent and raise a child together.
Burgess can use some luck on her side in dealing with this and support to bring her out of it.
13. Eddy Martinez (Vida)

Eddy Martinez just needs a helping hand to see her mission through.
She’s fighting to keep the bar she owned with her spouse, Vida, and struggling to since she can’t prove they were married due to a lack of legal paperwork.
That’s a big hurdle in itself, but when it comes down to it, all Eddy wants is to make sure the bar Vida owned is run in the way Vida always intended. Her intentions are good and honorable and she deserves the chance to see it through.
So many forces are against her, and she’s going to need to have some support on her side.
14. Jean Milburn (Sex Education)

Jean Milburn has a lot going for her and more coming. On Sex Education Season 2, Jean recognizes her feelings for Jakob, and the two start a real relationship.
Well, at the end of the season Jean found that she was pregnant and perimenopausal, which means that Sex Education Season 3 is sure to be a rollercoaster for her.
Here’s hoping there is no heartbreak in Jean’s future; either from Jakob or the baby.
15. Kelsey Peters (Younger)

Kelsey Peters had a rough go on Younger Season 6 thanks to a social media snafu that nearly caused her to resign. But then, Charles made her an inviting offer where she’ll be an owner in Empirical.
This is an amazing opportunity, and of course, Kelsey wants to take it. Although, if being a publisher had its own set of struggles, I can’t imagine what she’s going to encounter as an owner? Board politics? Press? Scandalous memoirs by abusive men that somehow get pushed through?
Brace yourself, Kelsey, it’s going to be a wild ride.
