Single Parents Review: Oh Dip, She’s Having a Baby (Season 2 Episode 18)
On Single Parents Season 2 Episode 18, “Oh Dip, She’s Having a Baby,” the gang reflects back on their own very different birth stories as an attempt to soothe Sharon. This is such a fun flashback episode that gives us a better look into each character.
Not everyone’s flashback results in a big character moment, but there are a few. We now understand more about why Will is so insistent on doing everything with Sophie and being there for everything, and there’s a surprisingly cute look into how Graham got his name and that stuffed lion.
With “Oh Dip, She’s Having a Baby,” Single Parents gives us the perfect mixture of laughs and heartwarming moments. It’s always great to see a comedy be able to pull off the emotional moments.

At this time, I would like to rejoice over the fact that Gavel Town is back!!
One thing I’ve noticed since reviewing this show this season is that there isn’t always continuity between each episode — please see the lack of angst and discussion over Will and Angie taking a friendship break (I’ll never be over this).
I’ve mentioned that one way the show could at least start to is by including more running jokes, and on Single Parents Season 2 Episode 16, “Hip$ for Dolores,” Gavel Town entered our lives.
Douglas: You have to hate it! The twist doesn’t work if you haven’t suffered.
And, miraculously, it is back, and all the parents are watching it (even Douglas!). It’s such a fun way to call back to earlier episodes, and the discussion this time around centered on the important knowledge of when the show gets good.
I wonder what the twist is…I may have a Gavel Town problem, but let’s not focus on that right now.
Poppy and Douglas’ relationship continues to be a high point of the series. The progression of their relationship doesn’t feel forced and the pacing works.

Poppy wanting a baby will be a fun (potential) wrench to throw into their relationship. It doesn’t seem like the kids have moved in yet, and it’s doubtful that it is going to go well. We don’t even know if the kids will be forced to share a room, or if Rory gets his own, spurring Emma and Amy to want separate rooms.
The possibilities for drama are endless, and that’s not including adding a newborn to the mix. It’ll be interesting to see how Douglas reacts to this. One thing is for sure, they do make one hell of a team.
Stray Thoughts
- Out of all the Lost characters, Ron named Rory after the smoke monster???
- Miggy being a badass at the gas station is amazing and very Miggy-like.
- The fact that Will runs away after Regis acknowledges him is hilarious.
- Did Shaq provide a new or used shoe, and if it is used, please tell me Ron and Sharon will clean it before sticking Shaqueline in there.
