Single Parents Review: Hip$ for Dolores (Season 2 Episode 16)
Everyone comes together to help Poppy and save the Winebrary on Single Parents Season 2 Episode 16, “Hip$ for Dolores.” It is great to see everyone rally behind Poppy and to learn more about how the Winebrary began (and how much everyone loves it).
While it is satisfying to see Poppy realize that she has climbed out of the darkness before and will do so again, honestly Douglas realizing the value in the Winebrary and being in absolute awe of Poppy is the standout moment of “Hip$ for Dolores.”
Douglas goes from suggesting Poppy close up shop to actually appreciating the Winebrary and everything it means to people, and he comes to this revelation by listening to Sophie and listening to women.

He shows a lot of growth during the episode. It has been amazing to see Poppy and Douglas’ relationship grow and evolve over the course of the season. We’ve seen them go through relationship hurdles together, and we’ve also seen each of them offer support to the other.
Miggy, Angie, Rory, and Graham also show their support by scamming Angie and Miggy’s co-workers, but their hearts are in the right place and that maybe counts for something.
Graham dramatically throwing his salad in the air is much more enjoyable to watch than Angie and Miggy forcing their coworkers to chip in, but the Miggy calendar takes the cake.
Rory: Did someone say, “Ain’t no scam like a Rory scam because a Rory scam’s got Graham?”
It is a little concerning that Miggy posing nude in the office, hopefully after hours, doesn’t bother anyone or lead to an HR complaint, but it is amusing to see everyone get excited over the random items of theirs that make it into the calendar.
Miggy really has a way with everyone at the office, and did anyone else forget that he worked there?
Obviously, my favorite joke from the episode is Gavel Town. It’s essentially Hart of Dixie, but it is about a lawyer who moves from New York to a small town in Georgia. I need to know everything about the characters, the town, and, obviously, the romance.
Graham: There’s scams on Gavel Town?
Rory: There’s everything on Gavel Town!
Please tell me they have some extremely random town holidays and traditions. It’s doubtful that Gavel Town can beat the sheer joy and silliness of Hart of Dixie‘s Planksgiving and pickin’ chicken — oh and the fact the mayor has a pet alligator — but I’d love to see Gavel Town try.
It’s amazing, and I hope this becomes a running gag on the show. Rory could continue to get more and more people hooked, and it would be easy to work in a brief conversation about an episode that just aired. Please just give us all the Gavel Town content. Anyone else hooked?
Stray Thoughts:
- I’m always here for a random alpaca showing up, but why is that always the random animal someone’s husband/boyfriend buys?
- The fact that Douglas charges Emma and Amy rent, not for their rooms but for the shed, is very on brand and hilarious.
- Who explained what a vibe is to Douglas? Miggy?
- Will and Poppy are an underrated friendship pairing, and it’s fantastic to see them together again.

Love this show and I love to read your reviews to see what I missed. They pack so much into an episode, yes I definitely forgot that Miggy worked at the law firm. Another great episode, thanks for the review!
