Schitt’s Creek Review: Moira Rosé (Season 6 Episode 7)
When the gateway to a good comedy looks this good, sometimes it pays to join a cult.
At least that’s what Schitt’s Creek Season 6 Episode 7, “Moira Rosé,” leads us to believe with a stellar plot that showcases how wonderful these character’s screwups can be — even when their lives are in danger.
Moira’s return to the winery should be the best part of this episode, but with Alexis accidentally joining a cult and Johnny attempting to give Patrick “the talk”, the competition is just too stiff to call.
Truth be told, we’re all winners with content this good.

The much-anticipated follow up to Moira’s winery commercial is here — and it is something!
Pairing David with Moira for this exertion is a wonderful choice as they quickly turn an awful wine tasting for a new drink named Moira Rosé into a drunken disaster with a heartwarming twist.
Moira and David have always had a strong relationship but seeing them drunk and unguarded in their emotions is a whole other level we were not expecting to see from these two.
It’s when their designated drivers show up to salvage the situation that the real pay off shows through. Intoxicated Moira and David is one thing, but force their responsible spouses into the mix and you have a combination for success that won’t be forgotten.
However, I do think for an episode titled “Moira Rosé”, the installment could have just a little more of Moira’s fruit wine-induced antics to indulge ourselves in.

I love the idea of David, upon hearing Patrick’s plans to watch baseball, orchestrates an elaborate plan to have Moira come to extract him from the situation “organically”.
Of course, Patrick sees the rouse for what it is the moment Moira enters the room and can we blame him? I mean David has a bag packed and ready to go at the door.
David could have been more discreet about his scheme, but for the sake of this comedic bit, I’m glad he’s not.
Patrick and David use this episode as a means of proving that they are as sweet as fruit-wine, regardless of whether they are paired together.

If I had to bet on anyone joining a cult accidentally, it would be Johnny, not Alexis, the international woman of mystery and espionage. None the less, her dangerous screw up leads to one epic comedic fallout.
The bit starts getting good when Alexis asks Citrus for clarification on what he means when he refers to demons and gateways, to which the creepy workout instructor gives her a very unsettling, but expected, response.
Alexis’ face journey through the next few moments really sells this entire storyline as she attempts to casually play off the fact that she tried to sign her friends up for a cult and “not the good kind”.
The hilarious and horrific events conclude with Twyla confirming she knew they were in a cult she just wanted to support Alexis — oh Twyla never change. But it’s the realization that the exit sign has an arrow pointing up that really sends this one over the top.
This gateway cult joke is golden from the minute it is introduced and only gets better with further ribbing from the Johnny, David, and Patrick. It’s comforting to know that when Alexis screws up, she screws up good.

Patrick’s sleepover goes as well as anyone could hope for.
Not only does Patrick get the quiet day he deserves eating pizza and watching baseball at the motel, but he brings Johnny to tears with his commercial break heart-to-heart. His speech about feeling like part of the family and taking on the responsibilities of shielding David from all that irritates him isn’t just a tear-jerker — it’s a home run.
Patrick feels like the perfect addition to the crowded motel room bits as he and David tease Alexis, prompting a spot-on joke about them acting like her annoying twin brothers.
Even as a drunk Moira crawls into bed next to Alexis, our eyes are on Patrick’s reaction. Watching him experience the Roses this way for the first time allows us to see the show’s old dynamics through new eyes.

Schitt’s Creek gives us a cult classic straight out of one of Alexis’ wild backstories, a drunken wine-tasting, and the sincerest of sports pep talks.
You won’t find a better concoction of comedy, drama, and horror anywhere else. The blend of genres and characters this episode so proudly puts on display reaches a new level of impressive.
