Single Parents Review: The Angie-Man (Season 2 Episode 11)

Reviews, Single Parents

Is there anything better than the fake dating trope? On Single Parents Season 2 Episode 11, “The Angie-Man,” due to a misunderstanding, Will and Angie have to pretend to be a couple.

It starts out so amazingly entertaining, and then the truth comes out, and it turns depressing. This is a lot of emotions to go through during one storyline, but it all works and highlights how much Angie and Will mean to each other.

The events of the hour can only lead to the next step in Will and Angie’s relationship. When Will has to describe his relationship to both women to his parents, the gears have to start turning in his head…right?

Angie and Will get to see, sort of, what their lives would be like if they were together. Sure, it’s only two hours, but it is two hours where they are playing the couple in love and spinning tales about their relationship.

Hopefully, the best friend trial separation will force both of them (or at least one of them) to realize just how important the other is in their life and get the courage to make a move before it’s too late.

The worst-case scenario is Angie ends up getting back with Derek around the same time that Will realizes he should be with Angie and dumps Tracy. My heart could not take that.

Bud: You’re going to stay for the party, right?

Angie: Yeah, sure, of course! I mean, who am I, Meghan Markle? Where do I gotta be?

The trial separation could be a good thing. It could open up the show to highlight some other friendships within the group while delivering on some spectacular angst. Who do you think will realize their feelings first: Angie or Will?

Please tell me the next rom-com trope that Angie and Will experience is there only being one bed in the hotel room. Let’s just go full rom-com with them.

The kids setting up Tony is an absolute delight. It would’ve been interesting to see what Tony’s reaction was to this. He has to be somewhat onboard because he never puts up a fight, but watching the kids convince him to have a makeover could’ve been entertaining.

It’s sweet to see them look out for Tony and try to get him hugged. The G-rated spins on actual dating terminology do start to get a bit old, but other than that, the makeover is a lot of fun.

What would be amusing is if Tony keeps the new look, and we just see him in various strange outfits in future episodes. Everyone else needs to weigh in on this new Tony, especially his nemesis Will.

Single Parents is handling Poppy and Douglas’ relationship quite nicely. It’s fun seeing them settle into their relationship, and it’s even better when there are outside forces weighing in, which during this episode are Miggy and Rory.

Rory taking advantage of Douglas is predictable, but he isn’t wrong when he tells Douglas that he should step up and help Poppy out. It’s nice to see that Rory does want this to work.

Next we should see more of Douglas, Poppy, and children hanging out together. It would allow Douglas and Poppy to see a glimpse into their future, which could be good or bad. Either way, it will be fun to watch.

  • Angie at the end left without her purse, the one she threw at the beginning when she was about to leave before the party started.
