Single Parents Review: A Place Where Men Can Be Men (Season 2 Episode 9)
Single Parents Season 2 Episode 9, “A Place Where Men Can Be Men,” mixes it up a bit when it comes to parenting — the parents spend time with someone else’s kid. It’s always fun when a kid swap happens.
Not only does it change up the dynamics, but it further proves that they really are a village. None of the parents are in it alone. They all help out with the parenting responsibilities, for better and for worse.
Graham asks for his bros to give him the talk, which is adorable in and of itself. Douglas and Will stepping up to be a father figure in Graham’s life is always sweet to see. I’d actually love to see them interact with Rory more in this way.

Douglas and Will’s first attempt at the talk is a disaster, which is expected. If everything went according to plan, then it wouldn’t be that funny. Will’s freak out over his revelation about his father and Douglas chasing down Will and Graham as they roller skate away is downright hilarious.
The only thing that could’ve made this any better is if Douglas was dragged onto the rink or somehow forced to wear skates.
Then, there’s Angie’s parenting mishap with Sophie.
Graham: Are naked women bad? How else does the stork know where to put the baby?
Will: Excuse me?
Graham: Keep up, dubs. Storks fly around at night, and if you’re lying down making a lot of noise, they give you a baby.
Honestly, the storyline starts out a little rocky. Angie being a disaster with Sophie in the grocery store isn’t the most entertaining; it’s predictable and a little eye roll worthy.
Once Sophie shares her shoplifting haul, things finally start to get entertaining.
If I had to pick which kid would earn the title of perfect, Sophie would be my top choice, and so it’s refreshing to see her lash out at this title.
Sophie: Sometimes I want to be like you: a bad B with a heart of gold.
While Angie isn’t who you would initially think of for a role model, Sophie’s reasoning makes sense. Sophie’s just a kid and deserves to be able to mess up, and it’s important that kids know that no one is perfect, not even their parents.
The hair dye is a great way for Sophie to act out a bit without getting too intense, and it’s adorable. It’s a little disappointing that we’re robbed of everyone’s immediate reaction because you know it would’ve been hilarious.
Finally, we get to see more of the twins’ individuality!

It feels like we’ve gotten to know all the other kids pretty well, so it’s about time that we focused on Emma and Amy as individual people and not as a unit, and Poppy trying to get to know the girls is the perfect excuse.
Yes, it’s only an outfit (and an interesting one at that), but it’s a good first step.
Hopefully, Emma and Amy will continue to show their individuality throughout the rest of the season. Even something as small as having them wear different outfits is a good way to reveal more about each of their personalities.
The child torture bit is strange, especially because their torture consists of being sprayed with a water bottle. What are they, cats? Admittedly, it is amusing to watch Rory unleash the torture.
