Welcome to a new week and another round of What to Watch on TV for the week of October 20th! We’ll be sharing our picks for what to watch this week, from new specials to big guest spots, and significant episodes of TV to look forward to.

This week’s picks include Watchmen‘s debut, Part 1 of BoJack Horseman‘s final season, a look at what happens when teenagers and the apocalypse on Daybreak, and more.

Watchmen – Sunday, October 20

The dark graphic novel is coming to television and re-introducing this world and characters in different ways. Watchmen debuts Sunday, October 20 at 10/9c on HBO.

Episode Description: Detective Angela Abar investigates the attempted murder of a fellow officer under the guidance of her friend and Chief, Judd Crawford; The Lord of a Country Estate receives an anniversary gift from his loyal servants.

Catherine the Great – Monday, October 21

Helen Mirren takes on the role of Catherine the Great for a new mini-series that follows the life of the Russian Empress towards the end of her reign. Catherine the Great debuts Monday, October 21 at 10/9c on HBO.

Episode Description: Russian Empress Catherine the Great faces challenges to her throne on all sides, as she meets the forthright and bold Lieutenant Grigory Potemkin.

Jenny Slate: Stage Fright – Tuesday, October 22

Jenny Slate’s new Netflix special offers not only her comedic talents through her stand-up, but insight into her life growing up, all while getting over her fear of the stage. Jenny Slate: Stage Fright drops Tuesday, October 22 on Netflix.

Description: Comedian and actress Jenny Slate’s first Netflix original comedy special Stage Fright gives the audience an inside look at the comedian’s world. Interspersed within her hilarious stand-up set, Jenny shares personal clips of her childhood and interviews with her family in an intimate look at her life.

Oliver continues his mission for The Monitor with some help, and we get more insight into the Diggle brothers in the future. Arrow airs Tuesday, October 22 at 9/8c on The CW.

Episode Description: Oliver (Stephen Amell), John (David Ramsey), Laurel (Katie Cassidy Rogers), and Tatsu (guest star Rila Fukushima) seek out an important person within The Monitor’s (guest star LaMonica Garrett) plan. Connor (Joseph David Jones) has a heart to heart with his brother (guest star Charlie Barnett).

Castle Rock – Wednesday, October 23

Hulu’s Stephen King adaptation returns with a new story about an iconic and terrifying figure from King lore, this time focusing on Annie Wilkes. Castle Rock returns Wednesday, October 23 on Hulu.

Series Description: A feud between warring clans comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes, Stephen King’s nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.

Daybreak – Thursday, October 24

If you’re looking for a new post-apocalyptic teen genre series, Daybreak might be the one for you. The series follows the lives of a group of survivors trying to make it in the world, navigating through cliques and other groups. Daybreak drops Thursday, October 24 on Netflix.

Series Description: High school isn’t the end of the world… until it is. In this post-apocalyptic, genre-bending series, the city of Glendale, California is populated by marauding gangs of jocks, gamers, the 4-H Club, and other fearsome tribes who are kicking ass as they fight to survive in the wake of a nuclear blast (on the night of Homecoming…ugh). Following an eclectic group of survivors as they navigate this strange and treacherous world, Daybreak is part samurai saga, part endearing coming-of-age story, and part Battle Royale.

BoJack Horseman Season 6 – Friday, October 25

It’s the end of the road for BoJack and his friends as the final season kicks off, giving fans one last season of misadventures and introspection. BoJack Horseman Season 6 Part 1 drops Friday, October 25 on Netflix.

Series Description: Will Arnett voices BoJack, the failed legendary 90’s sitcom star from the favorite family sitcom Horsin’ Around, who has been trying to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whisky and failed relationships. Now, in the presence of his human sidekick Todd (Aaron Paul) and his feline agent and ex-paramour Princess Carolyn (Amy Sedaris), BoJack is primed for his comeback…

Dolemite is My Name – Friday, October 25

Eddie Murphy’s taking on the role of a comedian searching for his big break, eventually finding it as Dolemite. What follows is a whirlwind of ups and downs on his journey to the top. Dolemite is My Name debuts Friday, October 25 on Netflix.

Description: Stung by a string of showbiz failures, floundering comedian Rudy Ray Moore (Academy Award nominee Eddie Murphy) has an epiphany that turns him into a word-of-mouth sensation: step onstage as someone else. Borrowing from the street mythology of 1970s Los Angeles, Moore assumes the persona of Dolemite, a pimp with a cane and an arsenal of obscene fables. However, his ambitions exceed selling bootleg records deemed too racy for mainstream radio stations to play. Moore convinces a social justice-minded dramatist (Keegan-Michael Key) to write his alter ego a film, incorporating kung fu, car chases, and Lady Reed (Da’Vine Joy Randolph), an ex-backup singer who becomes his unexpected comedic foil. Despite clashing with his pretentious director, D’Urville Martin (Wesley Snipes), and countless production hurdles at their studio in the dilapidated Dunbar Hotel, Moore’s Dolemite becomes a runaway box office smash and a defining movie of the Blaxploitation era.

The Kominsky Method Season 2 – Friday, October 25

Norman and Sandy continue navigating life together as the second season returns with new flames, a new boyfriend for Sarah, and a pair of big guest stars. The Kominsky Method Season 2 premieres Friday, October 25 on Netflix.

Series Description: The sun isn’t setting yet on aging actor slash acting coach, Sandy Kominsky and his longtime agent Norman Newlander in the award-winning Netflix comedy series The Kominsky Method. Academy Award® Winners Michael Douglas (Kominsky) and Alan Arkin (Newlander) continue their journey as two friends tackling life’s inevitable curveballs as they navigate their later years in Los Angeles, a city that, above all else, values youth. Destination Fear – Saturday, October 26

If you’re in the mood for something spooky, Destination Fear is for you as the team heads to Tennessee to investigate an old penitentiary. What will they find? Destination Fear airs Saturday, October 26 at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.

Episode Description: Dakota meets the team in Tennessee to investigate the dark corridors of Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. Chelsea has a shocking confrontation with one of its most infamous inmates, while Tanner is threatened by an entity known as The Creeper.
