Single Parents Review: Sport (Season 2 Episode 5)

Reviews, Single Parents

Kids’ soccer takes a dark turn on Single Parents Season 2 Episode 5, “Sport.” It’s a little surprising that we haven’t delved into the world of children’s sports until now.

There are so many fun storylines that revolve around shuttling kids to and from practices and games, and on “Sport,” Single Parents decides to focus on the darkside of winning.

If you had asked me to pick a parent who would get a bit power hungry, I would’ve said Angie. Will is the unexpected choice, but he goes dark once he gets a taste of winning and of Sophie including him in her life again. It’s amazing.

It turns out Will and Rory make a good team when they’re both a bit power-hungry. Who would have thought Will would be encouraging soccer-related violence?

Overall, it’s a fun storyline, even if a bit unrealistic — Rory’s way too good at soccer for someone who has never played. But, it’s forgivable. You’re able to just enjoy the craziness of the whole situation.

Thankfully, we don’t have to sit with the “Rory’s 10” secret. It would have been a weird one to drag out, and it does come out in the perfect way.

Graham and Douglas are everything I didn’t know how I needed.

Seriously, they are a match made in heaven. Graham is so sweet and clingy, and Douglas wants absolutely none of that. Angie’s right; Douglas just adopted a shelter dog.

Graham continuing to try to spend time with Douglas is cute and hilarious. It’s so adorable that Graham literally wants to know everything about Douglas’ day. The mystery of the soup stain really drives him crazy.

Single Parents Season 2 Episode 5 Graham

As soon as Graham comes to Douglas about wanting to tie a tie, the lightbulb goes off. Graham hasn’t had a male role model, not one he lives with, and Douglas fills that role.

It makes Graham’s quest to spend time with Douglas even more heartwarming, and it also ties into the looming storyline that is Graham eventually meeting Derek quite nicely.

While it’s still too soon for them to meet — Angie should at least check in with Derek after he’s had a chance to look through the scrapbook — I can’t wait to see how it happens.

The only thing I know for sure that I want to happen is I want Poppy, Douglas, Will, and Miggy to be overprotective. It would be great if Douglas and Graham get closer during Graham and Angie’s stay because a Douglas and Derek face off would be epic.

What would have made this storyline a little bit better is if Emma and Amy were around. We could have seen Angie try to interact with them or maybe Graham try to play with them or ask them for advice about hanging out with Douglas.

Seeing as how Angie and Graham move back in at the end of “Sport,” maybe there’s still a chance this will happen.
