Hearing the cast discuss the upcoming One Chicago crossover has made one thing clear: maybe don’t eat while you’re watching.

Chicago P.D.’s Tracy Spiridakos and Jesse Lee Soffer sat down with reporters at this year’s One Chicago press day to talk about the crossover event as well as whether or not we can expect to see an Upton and Halstead romance this season.

“It’s been a ton of fun to work with everybody and having the opportunity to get to know the other crews,” Spiridakos began, describing what’s it been like filming the crossover event.

“It’s a logistical nightmare, though,” Soffer chimed in. “The scheduling of it is insane.”

On the crossover, the city of Chicago is dealing with an outbreak of flesh-eating bacteria, and we know from the trailer that at least one character is directly affected. That character is Hailey Upton.

“I’m in a bit of a situation. I get put in quarantine, which is interesting. It’s going to be great,” Spiridakos said.

“It’s going to be great! Yeah, I’m in quarantine. It’s cool,” Soffer laughed.

All joking aside, it sounds like a significant and emotional part of the crossover.

“She does meet this young girl who’s also in quarantine and they develop a bond and try to help each other through it, which is pretty interesting as well,” Spiridakos confirmed.

“It pulls on the heartstrings,” Soffer added.

When asked to describe the crossover in a few words, the Spiridakos and Soffer came up with four: “epic” “disgusting” “tense” and “nervewracking.”

As for what we can expect from the remainder of the season, both Spiridakos and Soffer said they felt Jay would need to change a little before anything could come of a relationship between his character and Hailey.

“I feel like Jay needs to figure out his stuff,” Spirikados said.

“Jay needs to get his act together,” Soffer agreed. “We’ll see where that goes this season. Who knows?”

Chicago P.D. airs Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC. The One Chicago crossover event will air Wednesday, October 16th beginning at 8/7c.
