Chicago Fire’s Eamonn Walker and Jesse Spencer on the Newest Member of Firehouse 51 and the Possibility of a Casey and Brett Romance [Video]
The newest member of Firehouse 51 is already shaking things up on Chicago Fire.
At this year’s annual One Chicago press day, actors Eamonn Walker and Jesse Spencer sat down with reporters to discuss the addition of Blake Gallo at the firehouse as well as whether or not there’s a possibility of a Casey and Brett romance any time soon. (Watch the full video below.)

“He had a nice enthusiasm. He’s a young kid, but he’s impulsive and that’s the danger that brings up an issue for Eamonn’s character,” Spencer said about Gallo.
“I think he’s a hothead! I think he’s gonna cause some trouble in my firehouse!” Walker interjected.

“The responsibility that’s felt after losing Otis is very palpable,” Spencer continued. “There’s going to be almost like a Boden/Casey relationship from years gone by. You know, the handing of a torch, and the bringing up of a young kid to fit the mold and to be part of the team.”
Walker also noted how this is all creating a new dynamic between Boden and Casey.
“I’m loving our scenes together,” he said. “We get in quite a few scenes together, and we’re having a good time rediscovering what it’s like to work with each other, so it’s fantastic.”

As far as any potential for romance between Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett, Spencer noted that he likes the friendship between the two right now.
“I still do see two work colleagues who like each other very much as friends, and it’s platonic, but it has taken maybe a little bit of a shift. But they’re both a bit gun shy and not about to risk anything destroying the energy they have at the firehouse. Particularly since they’ve lost one of their dearest and closest,” Spencer said.
“But in times of tragedy,” he added, “romantic attachments do occur. I think they’re doing a good job of keeping their feet on the breaks.”
“And their hands off of each other!” Walker laughed.
“And not diving into it. Which is very nice,” Spencer said. “So they’re building a relationship, I think, more as friends at this point.”
