Grand Hotel Review: Suite Little Lies (Season 1 Episode 10)

Grand Hotel, Reviews

Javi and Jason awkwardly bonding is the best thing on Grand Hotel  Season 1 Episode 10, “Suite Little Lies.” A  close runner-up is the simmering sexual tension between Javi and Ingrid.

Grand Hotel needs a second season if only for this ship between the (surprisingly soft) bad boy and bad girl.

Is there a ship name in the works for these two? Ingravi, perhaps? Or maybe Javid? Whatever their ship name is, these two have lasting power as they light up the screen with their suppressed and tortured love.

Jason is tightly wound and it is a huge breath of fresh air to see him let loose and embrace his sexy self. Ingrid is not the only fish in the sea and the show is correct to remind us that Jason is a stunning six-pack of a man.

More even than witnessing Jason have some fun and sexual connection, it is gratifying to see Javi trying to stay within the bounds of his recovery by living vicariously through Jason.

They bond over it and have refreshing ease when they discuss their mutual love, Ingrid.

It is a mark of this show that they don’t make the drama come from the things you think they will. That surprising approach allows us viewers to both be surprised and relieved that the tired tropes of the past, like the jealous man trope, aren’t revived on the soapy summer series.

Jason may not have totally moved on from his crush on Ingrid, but he has certainly moved up in our esteem!

Ingrid is one of the most surprising characters on the show, and this episode continues to extend my fondness for her and my hope that we will get lots more steamy scenes between her an Javi.

I ship them so hard and I can’t imagine the show packing the same punch without them.

I also ship Marisa and Yoli quite hard and the episode does a nice job of adding layers to their connection.

We learn that Marisa carriers her undocumented status as a painful secret. Her life isn’t as carefree and supported as Yoli’s always has been.

Even though it isn’t given extensive screen-time, the story between the new couple does an excellent job of showing how LGBTQIA couples of color face intersectional issues that creep into every crevice.

I would like more time with them as a couple so I can build a lust for them. I think it is important that the LGBTQ couple have as much heat and passion as the straight couples on the show.

So far, Grand Hotel  has delivered in giving us a balanced and multi-dimensional love between Marisa and Yoli. I want to see even more of it.

I don’t care for the Felix storyline. There is already so much plot on the show that the extra intrigue with Gigi’s ex-husband is just too much.

I do, however, like that we get to see how the other characters’ relationships are brought into clearer focus by him. Gigi seems to doubt her relationship with Santiago, and it is painful to watch.

There is much mystery to what has happened in Santiago’s past but is no mystery at all that he is devoted to Gigi.

I love that we get to see the folds and fires between them. As long as they don’t actually break-up, I am buckled in for the bumpy ride.

  • Alicia and Hannah kind of bonding over Danny is surprisingly sweet. But, the stand out part f this story is that Alicia thinks a hard shaped rose petal display is the way to win back a lover. Wowza.
  • Teresa is an intoxicating addition to the show. I am so glad we get to see more of her.
  • Mato doesn’t need a redemption arc, but I would really like to see him in the mix of things at the hotel.
  • I don’t believe a word that comes out of Felix’s mouth.
  • Danny has some of the best bedroom eyes I’ve ever seen.
