The Bachelorette Season 15: Who Should Be the Next Bachelor?
This article contains spoilers.
As Hannah’s journey to find love on The Bachelorette Season 15 winds down, speculation about who will become the next Bachelor amps up.
After all, the Bachelor franchise now thrives less on being a successful reality dating show (the odds of happy endings are not in its favor) and more about what comes next for both “winners” and “losers.”
Is there a man from Hannah B.’s season who has what it takes to carry the mantle as the country’s most eligible and coveted single guy? Are the prospects so slim and so dim that ABC decides to pull an Arie Luyendyk Jr. and pick a dude from a former season? What if the network goes old school and brings on someone with no prior ties to the franchise?
Maybe they’ll pit several men against each other in a Battle Royale fight to the finish. Anything is possible.
Bringing in a fresh face is the least likely scenario unless ABC pulls Bradley Cooper out of their hat. Picking someone Bachelor Nation is already invested in emotionally guarantees some momentum for the upcoming season. Although rabid fans would tune in to see a chatty parrot wearing a tiny fedora find his perfect mate.

The Bachelorette Season 15 may be the most “realistic” outing in terms of what a disaster it has been for the 24-year-old former pageant queen. Out of Hannah’s final four men, there’s a manipulative, controlling, textbook aggro male and a self-professed opportunist who’s also an alleged cheater.
Another frontrunner isn’t quite the heartbroken Prince Charming he’s branded himself to be. So much for cream rising to the top.
Hannah’s suitors have proven to be a disappointing lot pretty much from the jump. There’s Grant who arrives on night one both jobless and munching on a hot dog. It’s difficult to forget John Paul Jones whose apparent profession is simply being John Paul Jones.
There’s Hannah’s first one-on-one date, Tyler G., who is so handsome he actually resembles a real-life Superman. He vanishes with no explanation, but it turns out accusations about him from alleged ex-girlfriends were serious enough to remove him from the show. Apparently, his superpowers include being a misogynistic douchebag.
I won’t divulge who Hannah chooses, but it’s been reported that she’s broken up with her final pick, and the whole dog and pony show will, of course, air on ABC during “After the Final Rose.”
There are two top contenders for the coveted and presumably vacant Bachelor slot, Mike Johnson, a 31-year-old portfolio manager from San Antonio, TX, and Tyler Cameron, a 26-year-old contractor-model from Jupiter, Florida. This decision promises to be a Sophie’s Choice type call. (There’s also a third, dark-horse contender…)
1. Mike Johnson

If the franchise taps Johnson, who was eliminated in week 7, he’ll make history as the first black Bachelor in the history of the show. Given the current social climate and a president whose racial remarks only serve as gasoline thrown on an already roaring fire, there’s no better time for ABC to do what it should have done a long time ago.
Mike is a military veteran, he’s handsome, he’s old enough to realistically settle down, he’s charming, and while he has no trouble with confrontation, he’s not a catalyst for drama. There could be some serious backlash if such a perfect candidate doesn’t land the gig because it will be next to impossible to not attribute it to the color of his skin.

During the “The Men Tell All” taping, Mike told ET he hasn’t been approached by the network, but host Chris Harrison told People Mike is a contender.
The Bachelor franchise has made some progress when it comes to diversifying its cast members, including announcing attorney Rachel Lindsay was going to be the first black Bachelorette while she was still in contention to win Nick Viall’s heart on The Bachelor Season 21.
2. Tyler Cameron

Johnson’s biggest competition appears to be Tyler Cameron, whose own mother may have already let it slip to anyone who will listen that her son is the next Bachelor.
There’s no denying Cameron’s sex appeal, but he’s admitted to Hannah he was reluctant to appear on a reality dating TV show the first time around. He also hasn’t come across as the sharpest guy.
However, according to his Instagram profile (which I strongly suggest if you enjoy seeing Cameron with his shirt off), he’s very active when it comes to ABC Food Tours, a nonprofit organization founded by his friend Matt James.
Cameron’s commitment to philanthropy will only serve to further make the ladies swoon, but Johnson feels far more capable of carrying a season than Cameron.
3. Peter Weber

There is a third, dark-horse contender, Peter Weber. He’s the pilot who manages to navigate his way into Hannah’s panties during their Fantasy Suite date. Although Weber bears a striking resemblance to a character from The Lego Movie, he’s still pretty cute.
Weber’s ex-girlfriend recently came forward to out Weber for dumping her to go on the show. Compared to the off-screen antics of Jed Wyatt, and the on-screen ones of Luke Parker, Weber’s bad bf behavior isn’t making much of a ripple.
Weber’s crime of being a bad breaker-upper isn’t enough to completely dismiss him as a candidate, the spin he puts on the situation when speaking about it to Hannah should call his character into question.
Weber’s really been working the heartbroken-but-still-hopeful angle which feels like a very calculated move. Why not just say he was in a long-distance relationship that didn’t work out?
At best, this guy is Bachelor in Paradise material.
