The Bachelorette Season 15 Finale Recap (Part 1)

Recaps, The Bachelorette

On The Bachelorette Season 15, “Season Finale Part 1” Hannah says goodbye to one of the three remaining men. The final two suitors meet Hannah’s family, leaving her more conflicted than ever.

It’s time for the live two-part season finale of The Bachelorette Season 15, and Chris Harrison want you to know it’s the most shocking and dramatic ending ever. Where have we heard that before? Oh, every other season.

Thanks to walking spoiler Reality Steve, most of us know how Hannah’s journey to find love ends, but even if you don’t, Harrison is dropping some serious hints  that things don’t go particularly well.

First, let’s jump right into Hannah’s final rose ceremony. With Luke P. out of the picture, Hannah gets back to the business of breaking one guy’s heart, and that guy is Peter. It’s the usual party line, “It’s not you, it’s me.” Peter takes it like a man, and his blubbering feels genuine, so regardless of what shady things he did to his ex, it seems his feelings for her are genuine.

After watching the breakup for the first time live, Peter sits down with Chris Harrison. Peter is still appropriately forlorn.  Harrison doesn’t throw one question Peter’s way about the dreaded ex, and I can’t help but feel getting dumped on national TV is getting him off the hook.

Peter reveals that even though it took him until their Fantasy Suite date in Greece for him to declare his love, he knew he was falling hard for Hannah in Latvia. His hesitation was due to the fact that there were still other guys in the mix, and there was a chance he wouldn’t be the last man standing.

Peter’s been moving on (we know he’s good at that), but a piece of his heart will always belong to Hannah (until it doesn’t).

Pete’s looking for some closure, and he gets it when he comes face to face with Hannah for the first time since Greece. Peter wants to know when things went off the rails, and all Hannah can say is she was falling for Peter, but she was also falling for two other men, and the morning after their date, she knew she had to follow her heart.

They both agree they had a ton of chemistry, but Hannah confesses that Peter held back just a little too long. She wishes he had spoken up about his feelings for her sooner.

But Peter goes out with a bang because Hannah B. sets the record straight about that steamy night in the windmill. They didn’t just do it twice. She and Peter had sex a whopping four times. I’m not certain if that speaks highly for Peter’s abilities or not. We’ll take it as a ringing endorsement: one Peter’s mom seemed oddly happy to hear.

Hannah’s down to her final two men, and it’s time for them to meet her family. Tyler’s up first, and Hannah admits to her parents that until last week, she wasn’t sure if she’s been falling in love with Tyler, or if their connection is purely physical (awkward). But after a PG-rated Fantasy Suite date, Hannah knows her feelings are real.

These family meet and greets are just such a non-factor. Obviously these boys are going to be on their best behavior and say what they think mom and dad want to hear. Any legitimate doubts are unfounded and should have been voiced prior to Hannah going on a reality dating TV show.

Hannah’s mom, Susanne, is Team Tyler, convinced he’s deeply in love with her daughter. Dad’s a tougher sell, but Tyler admitting he didn’t have sex with Hannah wins him points. Let’s not forget, Tyler was expecting “fireworks,” and it’s Hannah who pumped the breaks.

With the family out of the way, Hannah admits to Tyler she hasn’t been entirely honest with him because she was unsure about her feelings. But she finally tells Tyler she’s falling in love with him.

It’s hard to follow Tyler, especially if you are every parent’s nightmare.

Obviously Robert has some concerns about whether a singer/songwriter can support his daughter. Jed doesn’t seem prepared for an actual legit question like this one. He stumbles over his words, mumbling about having as many back-up plans as possible.

Jed boasts his biggest accomplishment has been writing a jingle for a dog food company. I don’t know what that pays, but Alpo money can’t last long. This doesn’t satisfy Robert who tells Jed the “no return policy” does hold up. A bit sexist to be sure, but we’ve got to give protective daddies a pass sometimes.

Jed is a bit put out that both of Hannah’s parents are so concerned with the financial aspects of he and Hannah’s relationship.

Hannah’s parents aren’t shy about voicing their concerns about Jed, his lifestyle, and his bank account. The vibe just isn’t there. This isn’t the reaction Hannah was hoping for.

Robert feels Jed isn’t as direct as Tyler. Hannah’s upset because she’s going to be successful and provide for her family too. But Robert still expects the man of the house to step up. Hannah’s dad tells her he’s trying to be supportive, but he doesn’t want her to settle.

Now Hannah’s not sure she’ll walk away from this 100 percent sure about her choice. Mom and Dad are in Hannah’s head which should be a huge red flag.

It’s hard to believe she’d be so torn if she wasn’t leaning towards Jed.

Hannah’s got one last date with each guy before she makes her final decision. Hannah’s definitely more light-hearted around Tyler, and if Jed’s been the frontrunner this entire time, Tyler’s closing the gap.

They go horseback riding and talk about their future and babies, and Tyler is ready to “run with this,” and he can make it work wherever they go. Hannah describes him as “perfect” which is just so dangerous since we all know there’s no such thing.

Again, Jed has to follow Tyler, and it proves to be a dud date. The plan is a romantic boat ride, but Hannah winds up incredibly seasick. If being around a man makes a woman want to barf, she might want to reconsider. It’s as if the universe is sending Hannah every possible message not to pick this dude.

There’s a lot riding on the evening portion of their date since Hannah is “concerned,” “confused,” and “conflicted.” She’s also looking for clarity. Hannah’s big on alliteration.

Jed can’t imagine life without Hannah, and he’ll do anything for her. These are two people who definitely don’t want to face reality and are hoping The Bachelorette’s going to be some kind of cash cow.

Hannah’s feelings remain unresolved. ABC amps up the excitement for remainder of the finale when Hannah says she has a lot of questions that need to be answered. That doesn’t sound like a happy ending to me.
