The Bachelorette Recap: Meet the Parents (Season 15 Episode 9)
On The Bachelorette Season 15 Episode 9, Hannah visits the final four men’s’ hometowns and gets to know their families.
The dreaded hometown visits. When the Bachelor/Bachelorette find themselves facing the families of three of the families whose son/daughter they’re going to end up dumping.
Hannah heads to Westlake, California first to see Peter who is proving to just be too sweet and too well-adjusted to find true love on a reality dating show. Being a pilot, we know his big plans for Hannah are going to involve a ride in his plane, and he doesn’t disappoint us.
It is a bit nerve-wracking when he let’s God take the wheel, so he can smooch who he hopes will be his “co-pilot for life.” They fly over the mansion where they first met, and they also do a flyover his parents’ house who are outside waving excitedly.

Watching Peter land this plane is pretty hot, and it’s going to be tough for the other guys to top this date.
Peter’s catching some serious feelings for Hannah: no other woman has ever made him feel the way she does. But Peter hasn’t been able to utter those three little words. There’s always an immense amount of pressure for declarations of love during hometowns, and usually those who haven’t used the L-word view this as their last best hope for staying around.
Peter’s parents, particularly his mom Barbara, are so enthusiastic and welcoming. It’s Peter’s brother Jack who pulls Hannah aside for the first of many one-one-one conversations that make no real difference one way or the other regarding the outcome.
Is Hannah all in? She wouldn’t take things thing far if she didn’t see a future with Peter. She won’t say she’s in love with him, but her feelings are on track.
I’m not going to recap every conversation verbatim because we’ve all heard them before. Pluck the heads off this family, and plop on those of any other from previous seasons, and the end results are the same.
Everybody is skeptical about this process (as they should be), and some families are more welcoming than others.
Some families or family members are more charismatic than others. Peter’s definitely the golden child in his house, and I will say, his parents are criers. They are an emotional bunch.

Peter wants very much to tell Hannah he loves her, but something holds him back. I can safely say it’s probably the other three guys who are still very much in contention for the final rose.
The frontrunner for Bachelor Nation’s hearts has to be Tyler C. He still doesn’t do it for me (I’m much more Team Peter), his allure is obvious. It’s not just that he’s incredibly yummy eye candy, but he’s a dud with some depth who just wants to find a nice girl, settle down, and DANCE.
Hannah arrives in Jupiter, Florida, and it only makes sense that Tyler C. shows his girl around by boat. I feel compelled to disclose that I was laboring under the incorrect assumption that Hannah B. had sex in a lighthouse (in actuality, it was a windmill).

Since there are several shots of a lighthouse during Tyler and Hannah’s date, I figured these two would be sneaking off for some afternoon delight. But, alas, this date only gets a PG rating, and I’ll be forced to wait another week for some fornication.
Tyler shows Hannah the house where he grew up before the recession hit, and like many families, they were forced to downsize. There’s also a pretty heavy conversation about Tyler seeing his ailing father for the first time in months. But things end on a light note as the two dance at a tiki bar.

Tyler’s dad, Jeff, feels like Tyler may really be in love. This kills me every time. I’ve come to expect — if not accept — this ridiculous fantasy the participants buy into that you can truly fall in love after what amounts to a few hours. However, I expect more from their families.

But there are legions of fans who buy into the BS as well, and the formula works because the show goes on and on and on. It’s on life support because there haven’t been a lot of happy endings, and the continued whitewashing of the cast (and the fact being over 30 is seen as a con) means the franchise must adapt or die.
Back to Tyler who took over the family business and looked after his mom and the rest of the family when his father got sick. The only thing Tyler is missing is a shiny halo sitting atop his head.
Tyler admits to Hannah he’s falling in love with her, and he can’t wait to see where things go.
It wouldn’t be a successful date if Hannah didn’t straddle her suitor and engage in some serious pre-coitus activity (which they did in the back of an SUV).
yes, the driver was in the car. and yes, he unfortunately could not control himself and chuckled “he’s a lucky boy, goodnight huh?” ??♀️#thebachelorette

The show saves the two worst for last — Luke P. and Jed. First, Hannah heads to Gainesville, Georgia to reunite with born-again a hole Luke. He decides the best place to take Hannah is Sunday school.
Luke continues to be a master manipulator. After weeks of being the center of controversy, and, possibly, one of the most-hated villains of all time, he brings Hannah to a place where EVERYBODY likes him.
It’s church for Christ’s sake. It’s not like Christians don’t hate. I think history has proven otherwise, but it’s definitely a safe space for Luke who once again recounts his brush with God in the shower. Boring. At least there were doughnuts.
This is a date Hannah desperately needed to affirm her choice to keep Luke around. She’s been convinced that despite all the BS, there’s no possible way a guy this hot could be all bad. All these chuch-goin’ folk reassure Hannah that Luke is the real deal whatever the heck that’s supposed to mean.
Hannah meets Luke’s entire family, including his 96-year-old grandmother. Hannah throws Luke under the bus pretty quickly, telling those nearest and dearest to him that Luke hasn’t been playing well with others.

Luke’s dad can’t reconcile the stories Hannah tells about his son, and the man he raised. I wonder how they feel after actually watching it all unfold. I’m guessing there’s been a whole lot of praying going on in Luke’s house.
have you ever told an entire family that nobody like’s their son? I have. ?♀️ #TheBachelorette

Luke being Luke, he’s still convinced he’s killing it. He doesn’t see a scenario where things don’t work out with Hannah.
Luke’s mom is concerned that her son hasn’t opened up more to Hannah, and he knows there are some important conversations the two need to have moving forward. Thanks to ABC’s trailer for next week’s episode, pre-marital sex is one topic, and it doesn’t go well.
For now, Luke apologizes for everything he’s put Hannah through, and he tells her he loves her (without a doubt).

Even though it’s a really bad sign when you have to point out you made it an entire day without fighting, Hannah reveals she’s falling in love with Luke.
As if all of that isn’t enough to turn your stomach, Hannah heads to Knoxville, Tennessee for her visit with Jed and his family. Jed who has been very quiet regarding all the drama surrounding him, recently took to Instagram to ask people to stop verbally attacking and threatening his family.
I’m no Jed fan, and I believe he gets what he deserves in the end, but where are your priorities in life if you are torturing someone’s family over a dating show? Jed’s no prize, but he hasn’t done anything bad enough to turn Bachelor Nation into a bunch of crazed bunny boilers.
Jed’s idea of the perfect date if for him and Hannah to write their love song together. Yes, still working the music angle up until the end. Jed also tells Hannah he’s in love with her.
This enables Hannah to greet Jed’s family with a spring in her step. I’m not sure what it is about these shows that motivates everyone to make toasts, but Jed’s mom really sticks her foot in it with hers. “Here’s to everyone trusting their intuition and their gut every day. When you stick to your truth, it’s beneficial to everybody.”
Knowing what we all do, was this a warning to her son or to Hannah?
good toast. good message. cheers! ?#TheBachlorette

Aside from Jed just being so shady, there biggest obstacle is his singing “career.” Can Jed commit to Hannah and still follow his dreams of making it big? Jed’s family doesn’t think so which isn’t music to Hannah’s ears.
Despite being bashed by the public, it’s Jed’s family who are the most doubtful of this working out.
The time comes for the big rose ceremony, and Hannah can’t imagine letting any of them go. Peter and Tyler get their roses, but then Hannah abruptly leaves. It’s Chris Harrison to the rescue to talk Hannah off the ledge.
Can’t make up your mind, Hannah B.? No problem. Here’s another rose, and we’ll let you keep them all … for now.
Jed isn’t happy or relieved, he’s pissed. He can’t believe Hannah can’t choose between him and someone who has been a complete “scumbag” through this whole process. Those who live in glass houses, Jed.
Don’t worry. Hannah B.’s got this situation locked down. Rumor has it, she has sex with Jed in a windmill on The Bachelorette Season 15 Episode 9.
