TV News Wrap-Up: ‘One Day at a Time’ Saved By Pop TV, Henry Ian Cusick Gets Role in ‘MacGyver’ Season 4, ‘Orange is the New Black’ Final Season Trailer Drops
Wow, this week has been a whirlwind of news. There’s been a joyous series resurrection, a final trailer for the final season of a Netflix Original, and lots of casting news to whet our appetites for the upcoming 2019/2020 seasons.

Teasers
The trailer for the final season of Orange is the New Black dropped this week. In addition to showing us a little bit of Piper’s post-prison life, it also teases the appearance of some characters we haven’t seen in a while. Watch the trailer of Orange is the New Black Season 7 right here.

Casting News
Henry Ian Cusick will be joining the cast of MacGyver Season 4. TV Line reports that Cusick has been cast as Russ, a handsome and quick-witted ex-military man who is skilled in propaganda and lie detection. Russ boasts extremely high emotional intelligence, but also very wealthy and used to getting his way. Cusick’s previous TV credits include The 100, Lost, and Scandal.

There have been multiple casting updates for Tell Me a Story Season 2. The second season will feature new fairytales with some new faces including Odette Annable, Natalie Alyn Lind, Matt Lauria, Ashley Madekwe, and Eka Darville. The storylines slated for Season 2 include three princesses; Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. Jenji Kohan’s next series for Netflix has secured its leads. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kohan’s third series, titled Slutty Teenage Bounty Hunters will be helmed by Maddie Phillips and Anjelica Bette Fellini. This series is part of Kohan’s overall deal with Netflix. The official logline of the series reads as follows: “After joining forces with a veteran bounty hunter (Kadeem Hardison), 16-year-old fraternal twin sisters Sterling (Phillips) and Blair (Fellini) Wesley dive into the world of bail skipping baddies while still navigating the high stakes of teenage love and sex. Sterling and Blair plan to excel in all aforementioned extracurriculars, despite the watchful eye of their buttoned-up community.”

Victoria Pedretti will shepherd the second installment of The Haunting of Hill House. Pedretti will be leading the second season fo the Netflix series which will be called The Haunting of Bly Manor. Deadline reports, “The Haunting of Bly Manor is inspired by Henry James’ psychological gothic horror novella The Turn of the Screw, which takes place almost entirely in an old country mansion. There, two young orphans are looked after by a young governess by whom most of the story is narrated by”

Cancellations and Renewals
One Day at a Time has been saved by Pop TV. The Netflix series was canceled earlier this year, but Pop TV has announced that the series will be getting a fourth season in 2020. You can read more details about the series amazing resurrection here. As a bonus, Deadline also reports that Justina Muchado will produce and direct one episode of Season 4.

Blood & Treasure has been renewed for a second season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Through five episodes, Blood & Treasure is averaging 5.71 million viewers (including delayed viewing), making it No. 1 among the handful of new broadcast scripted shows airing in the summer. It also is averaging a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49.”
