The Bachelorette Recap: Foul Play (Season 15 Episode 4)
On The Bachelorette Season 15 Episode 4, Hannah and her remaining suitors travel to Newport, RI where Luke P.’s behavior gets out of control. Hannah begins to question her instincts.
No more luxurious mansion for this bunch of lucky stiffs: it’s time to hit the road and go to Newport, RI. This is somewhere you’d only ever go if someone else was footing the bill.
There are 15 guys left, and there are a few who are dead weight. They’ll be jettisoned before production heads someplace really good.

Hannah starts this week as she does every other — excited and hopeful. But by the time the rose ceremony rolls around, she’ll be describing the week as tough and emotional.
Hannah’s first one-on-one date is with Jed. They spend the day together exploring Boston, and Hannah’s more than happy to just skip over all the historical stuff in favor of making out and eating ice cream (Halo is making a fortune from this franchise). Seriously, I am beginning to suspect Hannah isn’t the brightest Bachelorette we’ve ever had.
Hannah’s got a big surprise for Jed — they meet up with two players for the Boston Celtics. Jed seems excited, so these guys must be good. The foursome shoot hoops for as long as its entertaining (a few minutes), and then Hannah and Jed get some alone time to make out.

I will say that Jed pulls the smoothest move I’ve ever seen on The Bachelorette when he sinks a basket while kissing Hannah. Now that is a money shot.
Hannah’s really feeling Jed although being “comfortable” around someone doesn’t scream sexy time. During their romantic dinner, Jed drops a big old bombshell: he came on the show as a way to promote his music.
Well, it’s not the only reason. He believes in love and all of that, but, yeah, he was/is hoping to get discovered. Music is Jed’s real passion. This is a huge red flag, but Jed’s delivery is on point, and he swears he’s really into Hannah. He plays this whole thing with such “aw, shucks” conviction, Hannah barely blinks, and he gets a rose.
There’s one group date, and it includes everybody except Tyler C. who scores the other one on one. Not only do these guys have to compete with one another for Hannah’s attention, but they also get to beat the crap out of each other playing rugby. Nobody in America understands the rules of rugby, but everybody knows it’s brutal.
Luke P. is way too psyched, and that’s good because Hannah’s looking for a “manly man.” It’s obvious this whole date is a way to guarantee conflict (along with bodily harm), and it’s successful on both counts.

One poor dude, Kevin, dislocates his shoulder and hangs in until halftime when he heads to the hospital. Hannah’s concerned, but not overly so since this guy isn’t currently a strong contender for her undying love.
For Luke P., this game is do or die. This is how he’s going to prove his love for Hannah. If that means mowing down everyone else to get the shiny prize, no problem.
Even though there are cameras absolutely everywhere, not one of them manages to catch a violent interaction between Luke P. and Luke S. According to Luke S., he was bodyslammed by Luke P. with zero provocation. Luke P. claims he was acting in self-defense, and Luke S. was approaching him in a threatening manner.

Luke P. does apologize, but Luke S. isn’t having it. All of these guys want Luke P. gone, and now they’ve got the ammunition (or so they think).
Realizing he could be in trouble, Luke P. draws first blood during the afterparty. He tells Hannah he is certain Luke S. was going to take a swing at him, so he defended himself.
This puts Hannah in a bit of a pickle. She’s been hot for Luke P. since the beginning, but she doesn’t want to wind up with a total A-hole. Or, if she does, she doesn’t want us to know that a pleasing personality isn’t a priority for her.
It’s also getting to the point where the longer she keeps Luke P. around, she’s going to alienate some pretty decent guys.
Luke P. also tells Hannah that Luke S. never talks about her, and he’s only on the show to promote his tequila brand. If that’s the case, Luke S. is doing a horrible job because I have little to no recollection of ever hearing a thing about it.
Hannah gives Luke S. the chance to plead his case, and, of course, his version of events is completely different from Luke P.’s. But he suggests Hannah talk to all of the guys about Luke P. because Luke S. isn’t the only one who has a problem with the resident roid rager.
Hannah also confronts Luke S. about his true intentions, and he swears he’s in this for her. This is all on the heels of Jed’s admission to having another agenda, and Hannah is far more unforgiving and suspicious of Luke S.
As the night wears on, Hannah sees there’s a legit reason to second guess her feelings for Luke P. Mike informs her that he’s heard Luke P. say he’s not that into Hannah anymore, and he’s going to quit the show. The rest of the night is just a steady stream of Luke P. bashing.

The other men confront Luke P. who sticks to his story that he’s the victim in all of this until he realizes there are too many witnesses to what really happened on the field. He feigns memory loss, but nobody is buying it.
Garrett’s smart enough to not make his time with Hannah about Luke P., and he tells Hannah he’s got a crush on her. Hannah appreciates Garrett steers clear of the drama.
After a “difficult” night, Hannah gives the rose to Garrett.
Poor Tyler C. has been looking forward to a one-on-one date with Hannah, and she’s crying … again. Hannah’s having a hard time processing that her favorite guy is a horrible human being and possible “psychopath.”
Hannah admits she had a rough night, and she’s beginning to doubt the entire process. She apologizes to Tyler C. for not being “fun,” but he’s very understanding and gives her a much-needed shoulder to cry on.

Hannah rallies and the two spend the day on a boat. Tyler C. could be a genius, but he comes across as painfully stupid. He’s just a blue-collar guy who really, really, really likes Hannah — the real Hannah. She admits she wasn’t really into him at first (she thought he was a player), but she’s starting to dig him now, and she gives him a rose.
I can see Tyler C. making it to the final four, but in the end, Hannah’s going to put him down like an old, faithful hound.
The cocktail party is the backdrop for more Luke-Luke drama. It definitely overshadows Peter’s sweet gesture of asking Hannah to be his girlfriend and their subsequent heavy petting.

Mike’s making it his personal mission to protect Hannah as if she’s a grown woman incapable of doing so herself. Mike worries Hannah has a blind spot where all this Luke P. drama is concerned.
Mike goes off on Luke P., calling him unstable and accusing him of a multitude of bad-boy behaviors. Quite shocking given Luke P.’s close relationship with God. I mean, the two of them shower together.
Luke P. is a bit like a Batman villain. He puts on one face for the other men, but he’s completely diabolical when it comes to his dealings with Hannah. Luke P. promises Luke S. to set things straight with Hannah by confessing he lied about Luke S.’s intentions. What Luke P. actually does is throw Luke S. under the bus.

Tired of all the he said-he said, Hannah brings the two Lukes together for the ultimate cage match. Nobody goes home this week, but you can expect next week to be a blood bath.
