Whiskey Cavalier Review: Good Will Hunting (Season 1 Episode 10)
Aww, you guys! It’s official, they’re a family. Whiskey Cavalier Season 1 Episode 10, “Good Will Hunting,” solidifies the team’s bonds when Will takes a walk on the dark side.
So #Wemma are still a thing– until they’re not. I’m not even done rolling my eyes at the sight of them, and suddenly Emma is dead. That’s messed up. I never shipped them as their chemistry was severely lacking, but her death is tough to swallow. It’s quick and dirty—an eerily fitting embodiment of a spy’s life.
Our sweet, precious Will is devastated, and as we say in the South, bless his heart. He makes a strong effort to appear okay, but at no point is convincing. Turns out, Will actually becomes James Bond when he’s grieving. He dresses to the nines, slings knives like they’re an extra appendage and practically dances his way past multiple bad guys in pursuit of Emma’s killer.

While we’re talking about being dressed to the nines, I just have to say that fuchsia dress on Frankie is the fiercest thing I’ve seen since Arya Stark in the Battle of Winterfell. I actually think Frankie could take Arya in a fight. Don’t @ me.
Susan is right that Will is not okay, but Frankie is not wrong, either, when she says she digs her partner’s new alter ego. Dark Will shows us that Will is not the big softy we think he is; he instead just feels things very deeply.
The man pours gasoline on a suspect and nearly lights him on fire. Torture and murder are two subjects one generally does not approach with casual indifference.

Also, this is not the first time I’ve seen a character catch a light sure-handed. Does everyone on television just have exceptional reflexes? This seems unrealistic, but I feel confident that Frankie can do anything and everything, so I’m willing to let it go.
Dark Will forces the team to finally accept their destiny as a family and even thaws Frankie’s cold heart in the process. She has to swallow a lot of pride simply to intervene—nevermind confiding that he pulled her out of her dark place.
The entire episode focuses on each team member strengthening their bond with another. Jai and Edgar cementing their BFF status via a secret handshake is perfect. Their awkward dance in the middle is the cherry on top of the whole thing. It’s official. They’re bros. A most heartfelt congratulations to the happy bromance.
Let’s do this new bromance a favor and find a more iconic duo to compare them to than Bert and Ernie, though. Peanut butter and jelly? Chocolate and peanut butter? I think I need to raid the office candy stash.

The real MVP and biggest badass of the episode is Susan. Hell yes, she’s sleeping with Ray! Unless I misheard, I think she even refers to herself a “bitchuation” at one point. I’m not even mad that she hasn’t told Will. Go on with your bad self, girl.
That’s not to say that Will is going to handle news of their relationship positively. He is going to be pissed on multiple levels, but let’s not cross that bridge until we get to it.
Physical relationship aside, they also have a really good rapport. Their simultaneous chatter about Ray saving Susan’s life is some Frankie and Will level banter.

I do wish she’d be a little nicer to him, but Susan is a smart, confident woman who knows exactly what she wants, and I can’t fault her for that.
The other thing I can’t fault her for is her aim as she is the one who fires the fatal shot at Emma’s killer. Susan is usually the last person you expect to get the kill shot, so the moment is both shocking and awesome. What, like it’s hard?
The episode is grip-your-seat, yell-at-the-TV level entertaining, but I do think we could all use a refresher on Ollerman and The Trust. Ollerman is a great villain, but it currently feels like there are too many puzzle pieces that are not connecting in the overall story.

The final scene indicates that Tina may now be a piece, too, which straight up sucks as her gesture to honor Emma with a star is so thoughtful. Her turning out to be a bad guy could forge a rift within the team in addition to breaking Edgar’s heart. If she could just remain a good guy, that would be great. Thanks.
Tina’s possible allegiance to Ollerman is what I’m most intrigued to learn about in the home stretch of the season. That, and whether Will will ever find it within himself to forgive Ray.
