Siren Review: Distress Call (Season 2 Episode 6)

Reviews, Siren

Ryn and Maddie call for Dale’s help when things get intense, Katrina is still on the warpath against Ryn, Nicole sees a real mermaid, and Sarge makes a special connection with Helen on Siren Season 2 Episode 6, “Distress Call.”

At first, I didn’t want Maddie to call her father because I figured it would only lead to more trouble, but I’m glad she did because he got rid of everything. Dale is a real ride or die, instead of using his connects at the police station he takes it upon himself to get rid of the body and set the scene.

I’m worried for Dale only because I think they’ll be able to recognize that his neck was snapped differently than if he would have fallen in the shower. If they catch that, then it’s only a matter of time before they realize that the crime scene was set up and it could easily be attached to Dale because of Glenn’s connection to Susan.

SIREN – “Destress Call” – Dale copes with the fallout from Maddie and Ryn’s encounter with the man from Susan’s past, while Katrina continues to persuade the rest of the mermaid pack to get on her side – even if that means brute force against both mermaids and humans. This episode of “Siren” airs Thursday, Feb. 28 (8:00 – 9:01 P.M. EST) on Freeform. (Freeform/Jack Rowand)

It won’t be hard for them to say that Dale did it out of love for his wife, or jealousy that he was in town seeing his wife. This could all go very sideways depending on how things go with the autopsy report.

It’s nice that Deputy Staub calls Dale to give him the heads up about Glenn’s death because it ties to Susan. He may have been her boss, but it’s obvious they were closer than usual at work, and that’s why she still makes a habit of calling and keeping in touch. It’ll suck if she has to be the one to bring Dale into the station and book him.

I don’t blame Dale for making Susan find her own place to stay after everything. It might seem a little harsh, but things aren’t the same as last time, and Glenn could’ve severely harmed Maddie.

I can’t stand Xander’s actions and attitude this season. I’m sick and tired of the pity parade that he keeps floating on. I get it you want revenge for your father’s death, but at what point does it become old? He’s already been explained to that Levi didn’t do it on his own accord; he was forced to do it. Levi even apologizes to Xander when they’re held captive together.

Levi, since coming to land, has shown his true ways and proven himself to everyone and Xander needs to realize it. Heck, Xander killed Cami’s mother, but he doesn’t think that he should be killed for it. Double standards much?

I’m glad that Katrina locked Xander up and gave him a taste of his own medicine. It’s time for him to get rid of the animosity towards Levi.

Sarge’s fascination and infatuation with Helen is sweet and pure. He’s so gentle towards her and wants to protect her from any harm because he likes her. I’m beyond happy that he’s not a traitor like it looked like for a moment.

Now that Calvin is being introduced to the mermaids I hope this doesn’t come back to bite Ben in the ass and him try to sell the story again to the news. Calvin hasn’t been very trustworthy so far.

Ben putting his mother and father in place is something that I’ve wanted since Season 1. They both act as if they are above everything and have no need to care for anything else. They claim they’re helping the oil company to help brings jobs, but it’s for the money and publicity. They don’t care that they’re destroying the ocean habitat or environment.

I like that Ryn is a peacekeeper and doesn’t want to fight unless she absolutely has to, but I still don’t trust Katrina after everything she’s done. She’s faked her way multiple times before how do we know this isn’t another psych out?

I hope that next week Ben and Maddie do some real damage to the rig in the water and get some media coverage.
