The Good Place Review: Janet(s) (Season 3 Episode 9)

Reviews, The Good Place

Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani, and Jason are stuck inside Janet’s void to protect them from being caught. Meanwhile, Janet and Michael are on a journey to figure out how the points system for the good/bad place actually works on The Good Place Season 3 Episode 9, “Janet(s).”

If you haven’t absolutely fallen in love with D’Arcy Carden yet, what’s wrong with you? The levels of talent that she possesses is ghastly and the entire episode is a grand slam because of her.

I don’t know what exactly I was expecting from everyone being in Janet’s void, but everyone being a copy of Janet is certainly not it. I’m not complaining, though, because I think that “Janet(s)” could be the funniest episode that The Good Place has aired yet.

Eleanor and Chidi’s relationship together is on the rocks in the beginning and Chidi doesn’t want to talk about what happened between him and a past Eleanor because he truly doesn’t believe that it was him who fell in love.

I think that Chidi had feelings for Eleanor deep down inside, but couldn’t figure out how to properly analyze them until he thought Eleanor was going to be gone forever because he didn’t want to base it off of another life.

Even though it could be a tad bit annoying, I’m glad that Eleanor continues to push Chidi to talk and open up because if she doesn’t he might not have ever gotten around to saying how he truly feels.

Chidi’s whole ethics lesson is essentially him trying to deny the fact that he likes Eleanor, but that would never be able to get rid of the feelings that he has. I’m beyond happy that the two of them are done playing games and can finally work towards working on them.

The only time that Eleanor is ever truly happy is when she’s around Chidi, even when she didn’t know about their past together. This relationship has been in the works for a minute and I can’t wait to see the two of them finally go through with it.

Tahani and Jason figuring out that Janet is in love with Jason are going to be one drama-filled mess that I can’t wait to see. Hopefully, everyone takes the news graciously and Tahani lets Jason ride off into the sunset with Janet and realizes that she deserves better and can do better.

Nobody has gotten into the good place in over 500 years, yet Neal can’t comprehend the fact that the bad place might’ve hacked their systems? I think Neal could also be a part of everything and working secretively with the bad place. There’s no other possible explanation besides stupidity.

I want to be happy with the fact that Michael got everyone into the good place, but at the same time, I know it’s not going to last for long because I can feel something bad coming. Michael and Janet have done everything in their power and they finally succeeded, so I hope they get a small break before having to fight or run for their lives again.

Favorite Quotes:

  • “Well, you just died which means you’re the first humans in history to not immediately go to the good or bad place. Which, in turn, makes you inter-dimensional fugitives. So, that’s neat.” – Janet
  • “That’s a neutral Janet, she’s sort of the black sheep of the Janet world. Or blank sheep, I guess. Oooh, I can throw shade now, that’s cool.” – Janet
  • “You’re not even a little curious what it was like to hit this? I don’t mean this-this, although, frankly, I’d also hit this this.” – Eleanor Janet
  • “Let’s all say white people things: Billy Joel, I found it on Etsy, there was nowhere to park, did you refill the Brita!?” – Jason Janet
