The Good Place Review: The Worst Possible Use of Free Will (Season 3 Episode 7)

Reviews, The Good Place

Eleanor forces Michael to show her the memories he took from the good place so she can believe that she’s capable of love on The Good Place Season 3 Episode 7, “The Worst Possible Use of Free Will.”

Eleanor is so used to the idea of her never being able to fall in love on her own that she’s forcing Michael to show her past memories, but deep down she isn’t ready to believe that can truly love someone. She’s had such bad luck with love her whole life that she believes it’s not in the works for her unless she has help.

My favorite past memory moment definitely has to be Eleanor chilling with an iguana on her head like it’s absolutely nothing. She even has a leash on him like she’s going to take him for a walk and I can’t deal because it’s too hilarious.

I love that Eleanor wants to know how she and Chidi ended up as a couple because all these cute moments between the two are a blessing. But, I don’t like that her attitude completely changes right after.

Did Michael push the two of them together in the beginning? Yes, but the level of bonding that occurred for both of them was not Michael’s intentions. Chidi and Eleanor’s love grew beyond expectations and it ruined all of Michael’s plans. Her free will made her continue to do things to help Chidi, falling in love in the process.

Hopefully, Eleanor’s attitude will change now that she’s seen herself willingly sacrifice her life for Chidi when he couldn’t handle the pressure. Their love withstood everything so far, even if Eleanor can’t admit that she loves Chidi, and I hope it’s not going to be ruined now just because she knows the truth.

If Eleanor sat down and truly thought it out she’d see that she’s completely capable of love because deep down that’s one of the main reasons why she continued with the study. Had Eleanor felt absolutely no feelings for Chidi she wouldn’t have stayed as long as she did putting up with all the unnecessary drama.

Eleanor is on earth now, not in the good place anymore. Michael can’t force them to be together on earth so if anything comes from it she has to know that it’s real and not fake.

I don’t like that Shawn has finally figured out a way to get to earth illegally. What does this mean for team cockroach? Do Shawn and co still have access to all their diabolical powers from the bad place or are they stuck working like humans as well?

If Shawn and his posse have access to powers then it’s most likely over for Michael and the rest of the group. If they don’t have powers, well, I think that Janet and Michael can outsmart him, especially with the help of the group.
