Grey’s Anatomy is back this week for Season 15, and as always, it sounds like there’s plenty to look forward to. New members of the cast will shake things up as other characters return, and some hope to find love.
While you wait for the new season of the Shondaland favorite, here are 15 things you need to know about Grey’s Anatomy Season 15.
Obviously, there are spoilers below. You’ve been warned!
1. Two-hour Season Premiere

Grey’s Anatomy will kick off Season 15 in a big way with a two-hour premiere, airing Thursday, September 27th at 8/7c on ABC.
The first episode is titled “With a Wonder and a Wild Desire” and it will be followed by a second episode airing at 9/8c titled “Broken Together.” Episode descriptions for each and images are available in our preview.
2. The Season of Love

The theme of Grey’s Anatomy’s fifteenth season was revealed over the summer. Keeping with the lighter tone of Season 14, Season 15 will reportedly bring us a lot of romance as “the season of love.”
As for how that will affect Meredith Grey, showrunner Krista Vernoff has promised her story would be a bit complicated, saying, “I was really interested in seeing someone as beautiful and smart and funny and complex as Meredith actually have to put herself out there. That’s what she’s doing this season, and it’s something that somehow we’ve never really seen in 15 seasons of this show.”
3. Meredith and DeLuca
The trailer for this season of Grey’s Anatomy shows Meredith in bed with DeLuca.
Is it a dream, or is that part of her romantic journey this season? Giacomo Gianniotti said in an interview that in the very least, “An energy starts to build” between the two of them. It definitely doesn’t sound like this one is a fake-out.
4. No Time Jump

According to an interview actress Camilla Luddington did with TV Line, the new season will essentially pick up where we left off at the end of Season 14, which means there’s a lot we know these characters are going to be dealing with.
5. Alex Landi

ALEX LANDI
Alex Landi will join the series as Grey’s Anatomy’s first gay male surgeon, Dr. Nico Kim. Not many details of the new doctor’s character have been released, but showrunner Krista Vernoff shared her excitement in a tweet when the news was first announced.

6. Nashville’s Chris Carmack

CHRIS CARMACK
Another new addition to the cast is Nashville’s Chris Carmack.
“He’s got a different energy than any of the other men in our cast,” Krista Vernoff told TV Line about Carmack’s character, Link. “It’s fun and funny. And when you look like that, men are maybe disinclined to like you off the bat, but Link is so likable that he defies expectations.”
7. Kim Raver Returns as Series Regular

When we last saw Teddy, she was hoping for a job at Grey-Sloan, and was offered the position of interim chief of surgery. But that wasn’t the biggest surprise.
We also found out that she was pregnant. So, it’s not entirely surprising that we’ll see much more of Teddy in Season 15, as Kim Raver has been upped to series regular.
8. It Will Be a Be a While Before Owen Finds Out About Teddy’s Pregnancy

ELLEN POMPEO, GREG GERMANN, KEVIN MCKIDD
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin McKidd confirmed that as of Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 Episode 2, Owen still won’t know that Teddy is pregnant.
“It takes a minute for that news to be slammed on Owen,” McKidd said. “I think he’s going to be a bit vapor-locked for a minute. He’s been yearning for a family and a child for years, and now he’s got too many kids! You have to be careful what you wish for!”
