Wynonna Earp Review: If We Make It Through December (Season 3 Episode 6)

Reviews, Wynonna Earp

On Wynonna Earp Season 3 Episode 6, “If We Make it Through December,” it’s Christmas time, and Mama Earp is feeling the Christmas spirit! She really goes all out. The Homestead has never looked nicer.

It’s fun to see a holiday episode. The Christmas backdrop is great, as are the costumes.

The holiday also allows for some team moments, once the case is done. We don’t often get a chance to slow things down and have the team hang out, all together. It’s a sweet moment, and they all look amazing in paper crowns.

Wynonna Earp Season 3 Episode 6

We just lost Dolls — Wynonna lost a man she loved — and we are diving into another love triangle? Okay, maybe more than a triangle since Kate’s also there.

It’s a bit much. There’s already too much romance drama with Wynonna and Doc, and now we’re throwing Charlie into the mix.

Wynonna: My baby daddy is married to a vampire.

Mama: That’s a Harlequin I’d read.

Wynonna: And I still don’t think I deserve him.

Don’t get me wrong; I like Charlie. He’s cute. There’s chemistry between him and Wynonna. He can also wield an axe like nobody’s business.

Still, the complicated romance storylines bring down the hour.

It would be better if it was just Wynonna and Doc working through their issues with no secret vampire wife or hot firemen to add to the mix.

Of course, Doc is turning to Kate because he wants to feel needed, something that Wynonna doesn’t give him.

Doc: Isn’t it time that we stop being scared and start being honest with one another?

Wynonna: Honestly, I don’t know what to do with you.

Doc: You could admit that you love me.

And Wynonna is turning to Charlie because she can’t deal with her feelings right now. She wants something easy.

So while Kate and Charlie do serve a point, they are giving us a lot of unwanted angst. What are your thoughts on all of this romance drama?

Nedley retiring isn’t a new idea — Wynonna suggested he let Nicole take over previously — but it’s still heartbreaking to watch Purgatory get to him in this way.

Nedley: Nicole, a couple weeks ago, I saw vampires bite Lonnie’s head off, and the next night I binged watched an entire season of Pretty Little Liars as if nothing ever happened, but this…something changed in that tree lot. I can’t snap out of it.

He’s completely defeated. Purgatory has worn him down.

Hopefully, Nedley will get a sendoff of some kind because he deserves it for all he has done for Purgatory. I’m not quite sure I’m ready to say goodbye to Nedley, are you?

The upside is that Nicole will take over as Sheriff. She’s definitely suited for the job, but it would be nice to see her struggle for a bit.

Taking on a new job, especially becoming the boss, comes with a whole slew of problems. It wouldn’t be realistic if Nicole didn’t hit a roadblock or two where she wasn’t sure how to handle something.

Are you excited to see Nicole take over as Sheriff?

Bobo has protected Waverly from the second she was born. It’s hard to tell if that is sweet or still a touch creepy.

Bobo: You will take this baby. You will care for it. If I find out you’ve hurt this angel, I will come for you, and I will kill you.

Bobo being back in the fold is a good thing, especially now that we will be able to explore his dynamic with Mama Earp. It would be fun if they continue to team up to try to find Julian.
