The Bold Type Review: We’ll Always Have Paris (Season 2 Episode 10)
On The Bold Type Season 2 Episode 10, “We’ll Always Have Paris,” we get a pretty anticlimactic conclusion to Sutton and Richard’s story, a depressing development to Kat and Adena’s story, and a frustrating development in Jane’s story.
Adena’s sudden need for space to create work seems so… rushed, like a lot of the stories in the last three episodes.
Before Adena admitted her and Kat’s relationship has stifled her creativity, I was annoyed that Kat was making everything about herself.
Adena has had to deal with being deported back to her home country, fighting for another visa, has had to live in her girlfriend’s space and depend on her for a majority of her income, and most importantly, as she reveals to us just a few episodes ago, she’s been missing her family.

How is her creator’s block chalked up to spending time with Kat?
This seems like a stretch when you consider the circus her life has been these last couple months. It’s hard to create when you’re forced to in order to stay in the country.
It’s hard to create when you can’t have contact with family members and loved ones who used to be a big part of your life. It’s hard to create when, at any moment, you can be ejected from the country again because the government feels like it.
But yes, it’s because she and Kat are so in love, she hasn’t had time. I’m not saying time isn’t a factor when needing to create.

However, I’m saying when you spend two seasons building up to something for a character and you ignore all of that to force drama in a relationship, it’s a reach.
A lot of this episode is a reach.
Richard was just all over his ex at his father’s wake. He hasn’t really talked to Sutton in months. Sutton’s career is at its peak, which is a large reason why they needed to break up.
Sutton nor Richard have even touched on how they can solve any of the issues they mention in The Bold Type Season 1 Episodes 1 and 2, and yet, he shows up to Paris just knowing he and Sutton can make it work.

Someone help me understand how this entire season led back to this Sutton and Richard getting back together so quickly.
I like that they decided to have love conquer all; I just don’t feel like the narrative earned such a quick reconciliation.
Sutton spends weeks trying to get over one random assistant who says she slept to the top, and now, even though she hasn’t had much growth from that moment, she feels like she’ll be able to handle big names and prospective clients with the same opinions that will directly hit her career and her pockets?
They haven’t developed Sutton’s back-bone enough to warrant this. She’s still be pressured to make big decisions in her life by everyone else but herself.

I guess I’m just at my peak in frustration at how rushed these stories have become to the point where, now, they just don’t make sense to me.
At the rate The Bold Type Season 2 Episode 10 goes, I have no doubts Jane will probably pick Pinstripe. Why? Simply because the decision wouldn’t make sense at this juncture.
As I explain in my review of The Bold Type Season 2 Episode 9, Ben has been nothing but patient and supportive of Jane. Although he pushes her in many ways to open her perspective, like Jacqueline, he guides her to smart conclusions by telling her or showing her the truth.
Although I love Pinstripe to death, and I also love his and Jane’s banter, he does not do this for her.

MELORA HARDIN
The only Eureka moment she has had with Pinstripe is on The Bold Type Season 2 Episode 4 when she realizes his current standards don’t match hers. I don’t know about you guys, but that doesn’t sound like an OTP to me.
This is especially the case when you compare Jane and Pinstripe’s relationship to Jane and Ben’s relationship. I believe Jane and Pinstripe work better as friends now that I’ve seen this dynamic.
However, The Bold Type decide that Jane would go to Pinstripe when she hears good news first simply because she always runs to Pinstripe when things get hard for her.
Even though, it’s usually because she wants to escape the truth, and not face it head on like Ben encourages her to do.

AISHA DEE, KATIE STEVENS
This isn’t me with a shipper opinion; it’s me using the facts presented on these episodes to connect these arcs and make sense of their conclusions.
And the sad part is, I simply can’t.
I’m pretty disappointed with how The Bold Type ended an otherwise pretty awesome season. However, I’m definitely not the be-all and say-all fan.
What do you guys think of The Bold Type‘s ending? Did you love it? Why or why not? Were you able to connect how we got to most of the conclusions The Bold Type Season 2 Episode 10 gives us? Why or why not?
