Riverdale: Casey Cott and Ashleigh Murray on Kevin and Josie’s New Love Interests in Season 3 [Video]
Riverdale is by far the soapiest teen drama on TV — but it doesn’t always know what to do with its strong supporting cast. But according to Casey Cott and Ashleigh Murray, that’s set to change in Season 3 on the hit CW series.
At San Diego Comic-Con, we spoke with Cott and Murray about what we can expect to see from Kevin Keller and Josie McCoy when Riverdale returns this fall.
To start with, Cott confirmed that both characters will have love interests and romantic storylines in Season 3.
“I’ve got a boyfriend in Season 3, which started at the end of Season 2,” Cott said, apparently referring to Kevin’s bathroom make-out session with Moose on the Riverdale Season 2 Finale.
“We come back and [Josie] has got a little somethin’-somethin’,” he continued.
But Murray said that Josie’s romantic relationship will be complicated by the Season 2 revelation that her mom was unfaithful to her dad, cheating with Kevin’s dad, former Sheriff Keller.
“[Josie is] still not tied to anyone. She’s probably dealing with a fear of commitment due to her mom’s infidelity,” Murray said. “But she’s got a little bit of salt and pepper on her plate.”
Cott also revealed that Kevin and Josie’s friendship will reach a new level when they become roommates.
“Our characters are moving in together because the parents are moving in together. So it’ll be fun to watch this sassy diva deal with that little sassy not-diva,” he said.
Among their new adventures? A potential performance at Veronica’s speakeasy.
“We’re going to be exploring something at the speakeasy that Veronica’s running. Josie and Kevin are gonna be doing some stuff in there,” Murray said.
