24 TV Couples Killing it at Marriage
The story often ends at the altar for many shows. The writers reward fans for surviving the long and arduous journey of will they/won’t they by giving the favorite couple their happily ever after.
However, for some shows, marriage is not the end of the story. It’s just the beginning. We watch our beloved couples live their vows week to week on the roller coaster ride of marriage.
We’ve examined 21 Greatest ‘Will They/Won’t They’ Couples, so let’s rank the couples who show us how marriage is done.
*** The marriage must be a continuing storyline after the wedding to qualify. If there is a wedding, but the show ends or their character’s story ends, then the couple did not qualify. The list includes past and present shows.
24. Kurt and Jane, Blindspot

She showed up in Times Square inside a duffel bag, completely naked, covered in tattoos and no memories. The only clue to her identity is one prominent name tattooed on her back: Kurt Weller. It’s certainly a unique beginning to a love story!
Kurt and Jane’s relationship on Blindspot is constantly facing one betrayal after the next (let’s pretend the Kurt-killed-Jane’s-daughter-and-Jane-cheated-on-Kurt never happened), but they always manage to make their way through together and stronger than before.
Kurt: I can’t believe how lucky I am. I love what we’ve become. I love the person — the man — that you make me. You are my north star. You’re my starting point. And you’re my end point.
Jane: I never thought that, uh, this would happen for me. I never thought that I would have what we have.
23. Schmidt and Cece, New Girl

Cece was the woman of Schmidt’s dreams, and Schmidt was the last person Cece expected to fall for. And yet, they worked!
Schmidt absolutely worshiped Cece and she loved him “as is.” Neither had to change to find love because they were already a perfect fit.
Cece: She needs to accept you exactly how you are or you need to find somebody that will. Because I think you are fine as is.
Schmidt: You and I not being together does not make sense to me.
22. Homer and Marge, The Simpsons

Nobody does longevity like the Simpsons. Marge and Homer are still going strong because they accept one another.
Marge: Our differences are only skin deep, but our sames go down to the bone.
21. Paul and Jamie, Mad About You

Mad About You focused nearly entirely on Paul and Jamie’s relationship, from the mundane to big life challenges. They are proof marriage is when the story gets interesting.
Paul: Just like that: bing, bang, boom?
Jamie: At this point, I’d settle for the boom.
Paul: You don’t want the bing and the bang?
Jamie: I did when we started.
Paul: And now?
Jamie: I’m over it.
Paul: You’re a very complex woman.
Jamie: You don’t want the boom?
Paul: ‘Course I want the boom. Guys ALWAYS want the boom. We only made up the whole bing and the bang just to get to boom.
20. Stef and Lena, The Fosters

Their family was a meld of biological, adopted and foster kids. Their home was pure chaos but filled with so much love.
At the center of it all were Stef and Lena. Their marriage was the steady boat that kept the Foster family afloat.
Stef: …I’m afraid you’ll reject me because I’m not enough.
Lena: My love can show you that you’re enough because to me you’re everything. Stef, you’re my everything.
19. Leslie and Ben, Parks and Recreation

Ben and Leslie really didn’t like each other at first. Their romance was a slow progression. As we watched Ben and Leslie fall in love, we learned liking your partner is as important as loving them.
Ben: In my time working for the state government, my job sent me to 46 cities in 11 years. I lived in villages with eight people, rural farming communities, and college towns. I was sent to every corner of Indiana. And then I came here, and I realized that this whole time I was just wandering around everywhere, just looking for you.
Leslie: The things that you have done for me, to help me, support me, surprise me, to make me happy, go above and beyond what any person deserves. You’re all I need. I love you and I like you.
Ben: I love you and I like you.
18. Corey and Topanga, Boy Meets World

Corey and Topanga grew up together and learned how to take care of one another in the process.
Topanga: I wasn’t sure this day would ever come. But you were. I wasn’t sure that love could survive everything we put it through. But you were. You were always strong and always sure. And now I know that I want you to stand beside me for the rest of my life. That’s what I’m sure of.
Corey: Ever since I was young, I never really understood anything about the world and I never understood anything that happened in my life. The only thing that ever made sense to me was you … and how I felt about you. That’s all I’ve ever known, and that’s enough. That’s enough for me for the rest of my life, Topanga.
17. Piper and Leo, Charmed

The love between the witch and the white lighter was forbidden at first, but Piper and Leo conquered all at the end of the day. Their true magic was in their commitment to one another.
Leo: Piper, through all the tears and struggles, I always knew in my heart that we would make it here. I promise to love and respect you from this point forward as your husband, as my wife, my lover, my friend and my soulmate. All I am is yours.
Piper: Leo, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I was afraid that you were too good to be true, and maybe I didn’t deserve someone so pure and beautiful and loving as you are. But here we are surrounded by the people that I love the most and I feel so proud and so blessed to be your wife. Leo, I was born to love you and I always will.
