The Walking Dead Review: Worth (Season 8 Episode 15)
The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 15 “Worth” is a fine, decent, okay, so-so episode. It’s not spectacular nor is it awful.
“Worth” sums up what The Walking Dead has become– a meh show that spends too much time with unlikable characters but still has some interesting moments and overall fantastic zombie effects.
The penultimate Season 8 episode is mostly Savior-centric and shows us how Negan’s big plan is basically destroying Hilltop.

Um, no surprise there. We have spent an entire season going back and forth between gun battles, so what would have really been surprising is if Negan and Rick had both taken Carl’s letters to heart and tried to carve out a new reality.
Full disclosure: I was a little weepy as Rick read Carl’s letter. I didn’t expect The Walking Dead to make me feel so emotional, but Carl talking about Rick taking his hand…I was a mess.
Also, Andrew Lincoln has got to be one of the best criers. He kills me.

I think Rick will take Carl’s vision for the future to heart, but I guess we’ll have to see him act on it because he just killed a whole bunch of people on The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 14 “Still Gotta Mean Something.”
“Worth” checks in on Eugene and Gabriel in the bullet making warehouse, where Eugene likes being the taskmaster. He tells his workers that there isn’t enough time to make all the bullets Simon has requested, yet he has enough time to chat with Gabriel.
Gabriel is still fighting some sort of infection and he tells Eugene he’s afraid to die. Well, Eugene and Gabriel are two peas in a pod.

I never expected Rosita and Daryl’s plan to go their way but seeing how much of a traitor Eugene is really upped my dislike for him—and then he vomits on Rosita which is beyond gross.
I think it’s fair to say that Eugene is Team Negan all the way and I won’t be upset if he doesn’t make it to Season 9.
The other person not making it to Season 9 is Simon. I actually found Simon to be more compelling than Negan but I’m glad we got to see Simon and Gabriel have one last chat. Gabriel is another character who is a coward, but at least he brings some comedic elements to The Walking Dead.

As Simon and Negan fight it out to the literal death, there is no question that Simon will die. Most of the time, I find Negan to be far more irritating than intimidating, but as Negan breaks Simon’s neck, I did find him slightly terrifying.
The other major storyline on “Worth” is how Dwight betrays Simon to Negan, but then gets played by Negan. So, Negan apparently picked up a Savior, Laura, who saw Dwight turn on Saviors at the Alexandria battle.
It’s funny how it’s some random who turns Dwight in, and that Negan didn’t find out sooner. I’m not so sure Dwight will make it to Season 9 either.

The past couple of episodes have shown that even though Negan is the villain, he’s actually been somewhat fair and he sees people as a resource. He has given the Hilltop and Rick the option of returning to their agreement several times.
But “Worth” brings Negan to the exact thing Simon wanted to do—destroy the Hilltop and everyone in it. Did we need a whole episode to show us Negan in power again and his desire to end Rick?
Overall, “Worth” is a decent episode, but at the end of the day, I don’t care about the Saviors, and therefore, do not want to spend another episode with them.

We know that there will be an all-out battle between the Hilltop and the Saviors for The Walking Dead finale and obviously, the seaside community Aaron is with will probably come to the rescue.
I don’t expect any major developments which will make me excited about Season 9, but I’ll probably keep watching anyway.
