Reviews, The Good Place

Team Cockroach attempts the impossible – breaking in and out of hell – on The Good Place Season 2 Episode 11, “Rhonda, Diana, Jake, and Trent.”

Eleanor and the rest of Team Cockroach have to put their money where their mouth is and escape hell without getting noticed, or they’ll be forced to be tortured for the rest of eternity. No pressure right?

After everything they’ve been through I didn’t think that it would be easy, but I did think that all of them would be on the same page with one another. But, I was wrong.

Instead of Jason being the weak link, like most times, Chidi decides that this is going to be the time where he can’t lie, or he’ll be judged. Heads up dude, you’re already dead and headed right towards hell, there’s not much more you can mess up when you’re already sentenced to the bad place.

I know it’s wrong to say or think, but Team Cockroach has come too far to have someone blow their cover while they’re in the lair of the enemy. I was entirely ready for Chidi to just take one for the team and stay back in the bad place, but that doesn’t happen.

Tahani is the real superstar of Team Cockroach’s mission impossible as she whips out a disturbingly real fake accent and backstory in a matter of minutes. Tahani could’ve quickly put her skills to work in real life and be able to get away with whatever she wanted, without being super wealthy.

My favorite moment from “Rhonda, Diana, Jake, and Trent,” has to be Michael and Eleanor’s conversation before Michael goes to get the other pins. Eleanor doesn’t want to show any signs of weakness because she’s the leader of the group, but this is hell, and she has some concerns.

Of course, Eleanor won’t come out and say that she has significant concerns to anyone in the group because she has to look like the one who knows it’s all going to work out. But, Michael can tell that she is worried about him, and it touches him.

Michael saving Eleanor at the last second and sacrificing himself before Shawn can capture her is the softest moment that I think we’ve seen in the entire season of The Good Place.

Eleanor’s face, as she falls back through the portal, will forever be an image stuck in my brain.

Other Thoughts:

  • Now that Shawn knows Michael is working with Team Cockroach I’m nervous for what’s to come. Will Shawn make him help track them down or will he just kill Michael?
  • I never would’ve thought that I’d be saying this but Jason saved the day, and without him, it’s a real possibility that all of them would’ve been captured. I still don’t like him.
  • Dax Shepard making a guest appearance is magnificent.

Favorite Quotes:

  • “I’m telling you Molotov cocktails work. Anytime I had a problem, and I had a Molotov cocktail BOOM, and right away I had another problem.” – Jason
  • “No dumbass I’m lying to you to make you feel better. See sometimes lying is awesome. Plus I said dumbass, cursing hell I’ve missed you.” – Eleanor
  • “Jason this is hell, of course, there’s a gift shop.” – Michael
