Chicago Fire: Top Moments from ‘Slamigan’ (Season 6 Episode 10)

Chicago Fire, Reviews

We can all breathe a sigh of relief. On Chicago Fire Season 6 Episode 10, “Slamigan,” we learn that Bria is alive and well, and now Matt and Gabby will be able to keep her safe until her dad recovers.

Meanwhile, Cruz works on a new project, and Severide is forced to reflect on his career thanks to a visit from Chief Grissom.

Here are a few of the best moments from “Slamigan.”

1. It’s not Bria.

When we were left with that phone call on Chicago Fire Season 6 Episode 9, “Foul is Fire,” I was sure Bria was actually dead. Instead, this takes a happier turn.

Gabby and Matt get to the morgue to see this isn’t Bria, but rather a young girl who had Bria’s purse. It’s a sigh of relief, and it means the search continues for Bria.

2. “Unfair?”

No everyone is grateful for first responders. Mrs. Capizzi is more concerned about her expensive ring than the fact that she didn’t lose her hand in a garbage disposal.

She whines that everything is so “unfair,” and Gabby has quite the response to that, pointing out there are kids who have nothing, and that’s what’s really unfair. In true Gabby Dawson fashion, she puts her in her place with a quickness.

3. Bria and Gabby reunite.

It’s a small but significant moment when Bria shows up, a bit nervous, to the firehouse. Her hesitation is met with Gabby’s open arms, and Bria’s fear seems to melt away.

4. “Everybody needs help once in a while.”

Kelly tells Bria about his own past and how a friend stepped in to help when he needed it. It’s a detail about Severide some might have forgotten, so it’s nice to revisit that while also giving him a chance to bond with Bria.

5. Stella’s questions

You have to love Stella Kidd for grilling a guy with the important questions before allowing herself to order dinner. I really like seeing this side of her. It doesn’t seem like Zach will have her attention for long, though.

6. Matt makes a convincing case.

Proving how much he wants to support Gabby in fostering Bria, Matt makes a convincing case to Tina, reminding her of all they’ve been through. We don’t have to wait long to find out that it works, as Tina was able to convince the folks at DCFS to let Bria stay with the couple until her father has recovered.

7. New romance brewing?

The joy on Cruz’s face when the slamigan finally works is a great moment in itself, but when Brett hugs him and they celebrate together, it’s easy to see old feelings resurface. Equally fun to watch? Brett’s welding skills.

8. Slamigan!

It’s one thing for the slamigan to work on a test door, but naturally, Cruz has a chance to try it out for a real not long after the invention has been perfected.

It works, which allows the firefighters to control a dangerous fire before it causes an explosion that could level the entire block. Cruz is so proud of himself, and he should be.

9. “If you care about firefighters…”

Kelly doesn’t have to say much to convince Stella to ditch her date and go to the fundraiser with him. He tells her she should go because it’s a good cause, especially she cares about “firefighters.”

What he’s really saying, of course, is she should go if she cares about one particular firefighter… one who looks handsome in a blue suit.

10. Not interested

Chief Grissom is concerned about where Kelly is going in his career, and he’s pushing a little too hard. It’s difficult for Casey to hear Grissom’s disappointed, especially after he tells Boden how much of a mentor Grissom was to him.

At the same time, Severide isn’t ready to make any major changes, and when Grissom pushes even more at the fundraiser, Severide politely turns him down in favor of focusing on spending time with his men.

11. Matt tells Gabby he’s right there with her.

I don’t think anyone was willing to tolerate watching more relationship trouble with Matt and Gabby. Thankfully, Matt’s working on his communication skills, and episode ends with him assuring her he’s going to stand by her no matter what.

Matt: I just want you to know that wherever you’re going, I’m right here with you.
