18 Inspiring TV Heroes of 2017
13. Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Arrow)

Over the past several seasons of Arrow, Oliver Queen has proven himself to be the best vigilante on the block. Saving his city and the world from the likes of space aliens, a magic-wielding business man, and even blood thirsty Nazis is just scratching the surface.
When the mother of his child dies in an explosion, Oliver does the unexpected. He hands over the mantle of Green Arrow to his best friend and confidant, John Diggle.
He understands that being a hero starts at home, with the ones who need you most.
14. Octavia Blake (The 100)

Step aside Clarke, make way for Octavia Blake!
At the beginning of season four of The 100, Octavia is a lost soul. With Lincoln dead, she has no moral compass and only lives from one moment to the next, having no real direction.
But when she is shown compassion from a once thought enemy, Octavia arises from the ashes, and uses the lessons she has learned since crashing to Earth so many years ago.
In the end, she understands it isn’t about my people or your people; it is about our people.
15. Glenn Sturgis (Superstore)

Glenn gets an “A” for effort. Not only does he manage the Superstore Cloud 9, but he does so with the utmost effort to stay optimistic.
After a tornado hits the store, Glenn does his best to keep up morale among his team members as they attempt to re-open on time. All the while, he is dealing with the likes of Jonah, Garrett, and Dina as they repeatedly sabotage and manipulate him.
He never ceases to see the silver-lining, and is always willing to share a life lesson or two along the way.
16. Alex Danvers (Supergirl)

It has to be tough being the sister of Supergirl. Living up to the heroics of a super sibling can cast a pretty big shadow over your life.
Alex handles it all in stride, and finally starts to come into her own when Maggie strolls into her life. Maggie awakens something in her that she never knew was there. The two slowly begin to fall in love.
The couple seems fated to be together for eternity. They quickly get engaged and are mere steps from walking down the aisle. Then it happens, a child at a crime scene brings up the topic of family. There are disagreements of what the future may look like.
At first, Alex tries to fake it for love, but she knows it isn’t right. She realizes she must be true to herself. In a world where people often let their loved ones force them into a mold, Alex takes a stand. She knows she can not let go of her dream of being a mother, even if it means losing Maggie. With great heartbreak, Alex stays true to herself.
17. Jules Thomas and Ophelia Mayer (Sweet/Vicious)

With the re-emergence of the #MeToo movement, there are no other heroes more timely than Jules and Ophelia.
These two young ladies are dead serious about taking back their college campus from the hands of sexual attackers. They put their lives on the line to end the schemes of a perverted rideshare driver and a dating app stalker.
Their victories shine light on elements of their past, forcing them to stare the truth in the face, and together they overcome fear for themselves and women everywhere.
18. Matt Casey (Chicago Fire)

Let’s not forget our first responders. Chicago Fire’s Matt Casey has proven what it means to be a hero more times than we can count. Saving lives for him is just part of live. Not only does he risk his own life on a regular basis as a firefighter, but he’s also always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty and make the tough calls.

OCTAVIA IS NOT A HERO! She betrayed her own people. CLARKE IS THE HERO and the starring character on THE 100 show some respect!
I wouldn’t say Octavia is a hero either Clarke saved everyone on multiple occasions. I like Octavia but I just feel like it doesn’t make that much sense.
Of these above I route for Octavia.
But I do have two other BIG FAVS as well and the first one is Vanessa Van Helsing from Van Helsing. She is a one of a kind, deadserious vampire-slayer. Definitely a fav of mine.
Then, yeah I was late to the Supergirl party and only discovered Supergirl a few months ago. I love both Kara and Alex, but Alex who is a human being with no superpowers, damn she kicks ass and stays true to herself. She is strong and cares big time for her sister. Great qualities.
I learnt one big lesson from the kids-discussion and the breakup-scene, and I wish that I years ago in a similar situation had been as smart as Alex and stayed true to myself instead for trying to wait things out. You are allowed to go for what you want, else there will just be regrets latwr in life. So Alex Danvers has done the biggest impact on me and is my top FAV of 2017 and will be for 2018.
What…no Vanessa VanHelsing?
