Lethal Weapon Review: Wreck the Halls (Season 2 Episode 10)

Lethal Weapon, Reviews

Normally, Riggs is the one making questionable life choices when pursuing a case, but on Lethal Weapon Season 2 Episode 10, “Wreck the Halls,” Murtaugh takes up that mantle.

He doesn’t do in crazy stunts though because he’s still Murtaugh, but he does slam a guy’s face in some eggnog. It’s definitely a change from how Murtaugh normally acts during a case.

It’s really nice to see this side of Murtaugh. He’s angry about the death of his friend, and he wants to make sure that justice is served.

Lethal Weapon Wreck Murtaugh

We see Murtaugh get upset about how people talk about Diego, but we don’t hear him talk about Diego that much, which is a shame.

Through the phone call and Riana’s comment about who Diego is, we’re told that Diego and Murtaugh are friends. There’s also a picture on Diego’s phone as “proof,” but we don’t hear Murtaugh talk about his relationship with Diego that much.

Okay, maybe this is a little nit picky, but it would have been better to hear a personal anecdote from Murtaugh about Diego or about Murtuagh’s relationship with him.

It would have been more emotional for us if we saw Murtaugh reflect on his friendship with Diego or maybe say a few words about him. It’s hard to connect to Murtaugh because we don’t really get a sense of his relationship with Diego.

Murtaugh: Hey, look, tell me you are going to see me soon.

Riggs: See you soon, Rog.

Riggs’ dad is still alive? What. The. Hell.

Talk about twist you never see coming! It’s definitely packs the shock value, and it opens up Riggs’ complicated past.

It’s too early to tell how this will affect the show going forward considering that his father is still in jail, but it seems likely that either his father will be getting out soon, or the Aryan Brotherhood will take on more of a presence.

What do you think about this twist? Are you excited to explore more of Riggs’ backstory and complicated history with his father?

Lethal Weapon Wreck Riggs

Molly and Riggs’ relationship isn’t hitting the expected bumps in the road.

Since they first started flirting, it was obvious that Jake was going to be an issue, but it was assumed that it would be the “dating my best friend’s girl” issue not Riggs getting in trouble for talking about Jake in front of Ben.

It’s a small thing, but it’s an interesting way to create trouble in paradise for Molly and Riggs.

You can understand why Riggs wants to make sure Ben knows his father isn’t a terrible guy, but Molly’s points are valid too. Do you think Riggs needs to lay off talking about Jake in front of Ben?

Stray thoughts:

  • Trish calling Riggs to check up on Murtaugh is absolutely hilarious.
  • Murtaugh’s house will have to be under construction for a while…right? There can’t be a quick fix here.
  • McNeile is a fun source of comedic relief, but I feel like we need to take a break from him for a bit.
  • Is anyone else a little sad that Murtaugh and Riggs didn’t exchange gifts or anything?
